Hi everyone, I'm sure that many of you have the pleasure of working with Elizabeth Coggan regularly who, in my opinion, is among the best dealers this hobby has to offer and a gem unto herself. And if you have, you may already have been reaching out to her as I have.
If you haven't, then this is news that every AU-seeking Barber collector and Megathread follower should hear: Liz is currently selling Mike Hayes' collection of Liberty Nickels and Barber Dimes! Her latest mailer suggested that his set of Barber Quarters will be available soon as well. Not sure about the status of Mike Hayes' collection of Barber Halves.
Unlike some of you, I never had a chance to know Mike personally or to hear his stories and witness his love of Barber's works directly. I've been appreciating his passion indirectly for awhile now, both from the legacy this thread has provided and from the collections he assembled. I've focused exclusively on assembling an AU58 Barber dime set (Charlie's Angels), and can say without reservation that this is the event of the decade (at least since the Beancounter sale in 2021, another Liz presentation). Nothing in hand and so nothing to share just yet, but I am VERY excited that 10 examples from Mike's second (or third?) set will soon be gracing my own effort.
Anyhow, this is me honoring Mike Hayes' memory by giving a shout out on his memorial page, and saying thanks for being an inspiration in my own particular quest, 11 years now and counting. I'll share some pics once the dust settles, and hopefully some of you have (or will have) your own acquisitions and good news to share, too...
Liz is great. I sold her a big chunk of my set back when I broke it up in 2015 I think. She was fantastic to deal with.
Mike’s passion for Barber material was certainly fun and infectious. He bought a LOT of coins and could find something to like about pretty much any Barber ever made. I always appreciated him for that.

Happy hunting!
Although not a recent Hayes offering as previously stated, here is a dime Liz sold me.

Great to see Mike’s stuff getting some attention.
