I recently picked up a nice starter set of 200+ 1971 OPC low numbers on FB (mostly VG+ or better with a sharp Garvey and Foster RC, along with 9 HOFers).
A couple days later, I walked into a local antique mall to see if I could find any others. Lo and behold, there was a stack of 7 HOFers tucked in the corner of a showcase. 6 were low numbers and all 6 were priced too high for raw (even considering how tough any 71s are).
The fellow would not haggle, but the 7th card you may ask? Well...
Granted, there is a light crease in the upper left corner. PSA 3-4 tops, I'm sure.
No need to haggle on this one though, I think you'll agree.
*Roughly $18.50 for my American friends
The question is is this something you should jump at now. Like unopened became massively expensive over a little period. Speaking of that the unopened niche hasn't caught up yet at all. OPC's are still running about half the price of regular Topps wax even though their pop numbers are much lower. Just going by numbers alone shows a sleeping giant

Not the only reason, but one factor for that is that the notoriously higher sugar content of the vintage OPC gum relative to the Topps gum means that if you were purchasing wax with intent to rip and look for gradable cards, your chances are significantly higher with a vintage OPC box that far more cards inside the packs have been destroyed over time due to the aging gum seepage.

1972 and 1980 OPC are very challenging sets because of this.

Haven’t posted in awhile, I just wanted to share my latest pickup 72 OPC JR Richard PSA 9 pop 4 none higher! If he doesn’t suffer that major stroke what kind of numbers does he end up with?

I have to think he would have been at least Doc Gooden good, or maybe better. I have a feeling Houston would have pitched him a million innings and used up his arm though.

I'm sure it's not. I sent in an OPC card with a similar surface and I think it came back a 2.

All in all, a fun find of 71s.
Holy crap! $18.50!
Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports
appears that a 1974 O-Pee-Chee Nolan Ryan psa 8 just sold for $2,500. Topps sell for around $400 - $450. Huge sell.
sweet. I picked the 19756 rose opc 8 pop 3 a few months ago. Both are extremely tough cards.
Even common80s boxes are hitting all time highs. Blows my mind that an 83 is 1000$ and 84 500$
Wild.

I just sold two vintage OPC's in the last couple of days at roughly 3x what I paid for them last summer.

1966 mantle psa 5 opc sold for $1,050. Topps are going for around $500.

Is the 1973 OPC Willie Mays still trailing the 1973 Topps even though the OPC numbers are so very very tiny?
Same with the 1978 Reggie Jackson...

I bet the 78 Topps Ryan laps the OPC version a few times too.

Then it's any OPC I have is lapped by the Topps and any that I want the opposite. frickin' amazing.

Stretch OPC style.
Tom,
I call your Yaz and I raise you a Rice.
And I’ll match the PSA 9 with a 9 of my own 😊

Please continue flexing gentlemen. I'm vicariously thrilled.
I will join in.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
This is a losing battle for me
- but last one...2 Big Reds from a BBCE rip years ago.
Here is a nice 9

Bellinger like, actually slightly better, 1970 numbers - wonder how much Roy woudl make in today's game?
