I don’t think these are rare per se but they are for me. Picked them in Fort Walton Beach the other day while on our way to fun in Orlando. Disney that is.
The PCI Gold Box labels are from PCI's worst era in their long history. Well, you have to exclude their brief time as a fraudulent TPG, and the current juiced coins.
That era of holder and label did, however, produce some of the most spectacular target toning. And your coins are nice examples of that!

This dealer had a couple more but the toning wasn’t as uniform and I wouldn’t agree with the grade on any of them.
A quick search says they were sued at some point which sounds kind of harsh.

After this era.
Classic little old lady buying coins from a boiler room. The estate sued them for fraud and under the RICO statute because they had fraudulently misrepresented PCI at the time as being a third party grader when in fact it was owned and operated by either the fraudster and/or his brother (they spent most of the trial throwing each other under the bus).
The RICO part was thrown out on appeal, but the basic fraud convictions were upheld and some kind of settlement was reached.

The Compugrade slab isn't rare per se, but a grading set is! Added the 62.9 this week, likely my last purchase for 2025. Astrorat (the late Lane Brunner) got me interested in a grading set concept several years ago - sure miss him!
Might need to add a 4th box soon, if I can find one ........

I picked up 4 of Lane Brunner's Capped Bust Halves from Kahn. Great looking coins.

This one is said to have been a prototype for the post-soap box slabs. Purchased from Great American Treasures.
Hope I haven't posted it already - long thread, short memory ....

Here is a fun one that just arrived. My first Rattler 108.... Not a while label of course, but 108 none the less. For it to be an 1891-CC Morgan makes it even better.

I have some rare plastic coming but it will have to wait until next weekend.

Great snag. Be careful, the 108xxxx bug can be highly addictive!
@pointfivezero As addicting as the Doily bug I caught at the end of last year. Here is one I finally took a photo of. Several more waiting in the box of Doily's.

PCGS 2.1A holder w/ the PCGS marking on the rail of the holder rather than the slab. This was the second slabbed Morgan I’d acquired and was unaware of holder rarity until…well, around ten minutes ago thanks to @pcgscacgold !

Was tipped off by a forum member that these were available - don't know if they want to be named, so I won't.
Have never had the chance to buy a 3 piece David Hall flip set before! 2 sealed flips with a P-D-S set and label are placed on top of each other and the "spine" stapled. All grade MS65 - a couple look better with lots of luster.
A P-D-S set of Morgans or Walking Liberty halves would be pretty cool - not sure if they exist??

That’s a first for me as well, Tim. Bet the set would be pricey though.
Thanks @pointfivezero I think there are only 6 across all grades so to have one pop up, in a Rattler, while I am building the set is cool. I got lucky. The seller posted it at night and there were 30 views by 4am when I grabbed it.

Nice catch. I’d ask if you were going for a complete Mercury date set but there are zero 1919 and 1921 gold CACs.

I’m going to do the best I can. Got lucky finding the only 1924 with Gold. Maybe the luck will continue.
I searched several years to find an example that was a Lima Ocean Zero cert# and confirm the very subtle differences in the font between the letter O and the number 0.
I knew that's what it was from the database but, "show me".

I just purchased this one yesterday from my local coin store. My first PCGS 108 Gen 1.2. It pairs well with my PCGS 108 Gen 1.1 white label, which also contains a gold coin, a $10 Indian. According to the oldslabholders.com census, there is only one other known $5 Indian with a PCGS 108 cert, and it's in a Gen 1.0 white label holder.
