Great coins! @pcgscacgold You've been on a roll lately. @Pnies20 calls you a BUM! You keep on picking up beauties like those and I may have to agree with him!
Just great coins this morning overall, and running the gamut. From some chocolate brown Cents from @lkenefic to some dazzling dollars by @Eldorado9 and @FlyingAl , with @DCW showing off a obscure medal in there as well! And then there is @Barberian and some criculated crust.
Here's another one I purchased from the ANA in Oklahoma City, this one from Dave Kahn.
It was NOT part of his featured sale, and may have been with the same collection since it's last public appearance at one of Sheridan Downey's Mail Bid sales in 2017 (it has some very familiar stickers and I know who owned it from the Reiver Sale and commissioned it to the MB sale).
I also find it interesting that it is one of two ex Jules Reiver coins I purchased in connection with the show. I also won the 1834 B-1 Quarter with a wonderful VLDS crack from Stack's offering of the Steve Tompkins Collection (that he had owned since the Reiver Sale), which I shared a couple weeks back.
Anyway, this is just one of those crusty "grey dirt" coins that tickle my fancy, and tend to relieve me from any money left in my wallet.

A coin I never expected to own (those are the fun ones to find). By chance I saw it Saturday and ordered it within minutes. It would not have lasted any longer than that. Tuesday it was delivered. Doug has great customer service. I had gone all of 2025 focusing on CBH's so a neat find.
Goodmorning ladies and gents,
Been busy as of late, but finally finding some free time for some coffee and coins on this Saturday!
I haven't made many purchases this year, but this is a recent addition that I'm marveling at this morning: Merriam & Co Boston, MA. 115D-1e. White metal. NGC AU58
Spent the last decade looking for a nice one of this rare Good For A Scent token. I think maybe 3 have crossed the auction block in the last decade, and none were particularly attractive. This one is simply gorgeous! Have a great Saturday, everyone. Stay caffeinated

I'm not home this morning, so I prepared most of this post prior and saved it as a draft.
And before I forget ... Happy Birthday Paul! @Pnies20
FWIW when I think about Paul's birthday, I feel a little old. I was already in the US Navy and studying Advanced Avionics in Millington, Tennessee when he was born.
.
.
Okay, and here's something different, since I got grades back this week on coins and have a GTG thread up and don't need to repeat that.
I have wanted a Choice "Red Back" Fessenden for a number of years (it might be the longest running piece of Fractional Currency on a real Want List for me), but I never seem to be in the right place right time when a real Choice to Very Choice CU becomes available. That (for me) has to include a well centered face and reverse and the vibrant color with original paper and the attractive bronzing. It seems like there is always something lacking.
Anyway, this week Heritage had a sale of some quite attractive Fractional Currency, and although I got steam-rolled on a couple of other issues I wanted, I did cut-bid one over my pre-determined maximum for this one (an extra $13.60 or thereabouts), and am super happy no one countered and I became it's new owner. While not quite a Gem, this one is getting really close, and it checked all the boxes for me.
.
.
William P. Fessenden was appointed the Secretary of the Treasury in 1864 by Abraham Lincoln, and is one of the few officials represented on US issued Currency while they were still alive. He was also wildly successful in calming the nations economic turmoil during the last year of the Civil War, and was known for an unusual issue of Government Bonds called the "seven-thirty's".
I actually learned about Senator Fessenden during my US Economics and History studies in college, as he was a quite influential politician during the time, and my Economics professor made a point to discuss how the "seven-thirty" bonds happened. There is quite a lot of information about his life and service on Wikipedia if you care to dig a little deeper.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Guys, I was actually working on making a logo for our little club here, maybe making some coffee mugs or t shirts 😆
What do you think of this?

Maybe I could get @dcarr involved in striking some medals ?

Very late to the party this AM - still jet lagged from my trip to Italy (where all the coffee seems great)! Today I have a second NEWP from Doug Winter; I posted the first before I left on the trip:
This one’s a AU58 CAC. I do love those “D” gold MM’s! Per Doug, “there is no such thing as a common DWN quality D mint”, even with a so called available date like this 1844-D. The strike on this example is very sharp & the coin is high end for the grade. The eye appeal is exceptional!

But first, in keeping with the theme of this great thread……
(I mentioned a few weeks ago I was in Italy - this cappuccino was an offering in a little town SE of Roma, Cave).
Now for the coins:
The 1839 No Drapery 50C is a coveted type coin by collectors. I was fortunate to have the funds set aside to acquire it through my sale of FE PR’s. The coin is beyond stunning - not messed with & containing natural toning. The gold CAC is obviously testament to its underrated grade; therefore value. Marks are minimal for 63+; I fully understand CAC’s rationale with the coveted gold bean.
Here’s the second of this “duo”:
The 1839 Drapery is more “available” than its initial year counterpart above, but is a perfect companion. The pair is special together. Imo, the 65 grade is justified - there is a reverse mark above the eagle that holds it back. This Brent Pogue pedigreed piece has beautiful toning that adds to its eye appeal. The green CAC enhances it further.
Good morning, all!
This week's contribution is: a George Clinton / Eagle Fantasy by Merriam which was commissioned by banker Alfred S Robinson sometime around 1860.
They are supposed to be copies of the Non Vi Virtute Vici pieces, "Not by force, but by virtue have I conquered." But I think Merriam was confused. He used the George Clinton copper obverse, slapped the legend on it, and married it with an eagle, and called it a day. Lol

The first image is for @OAKSTAR because we need to stay true to our roots ... and the coffee
I didn't show the IV drip. Just the Italian Roast in one of my favorite coffee mugs (I have had for years).
For what it's worth this image shows the result of my submission to PCGS at the ANA this year. Seven coins. Solid grades as per my post regarding these. Trying to decide whether 5 or 6 of these are going to make the annual CAC submission. One has been ruled out.

The next images are something totally different for me that I took on Tuesday(?) this week.
I took a flyer on something I saw on eBay a week and a half ago. Not a CBH, and not even silver!!
The pictures on eBay were difficult but the price was (very) favorable, so I gave it a shot. VERY happy in hand. I haven't properly shot this one with the copy stand but here's what was in the package as I was opening it.

Just retired from collecting Latin American coins (personal reasons) and made the name change not long ago. I was either going to do US dimes or half dollars seems like the half dollars are my new pursuit. Will collect a mix of raw and graded half dollars as long as the eye appeal is right for the kind of lower graded coins I enjoy is there.
I have always enjoyed circulated coins vs high grades just the way I am. To each their own as the saying goes.

That was my first guess after seeing you collected Reals, but I didn't know one could change their handle without losing their post count. Welcome to collecting Seated Liberty halves! I like choice low-grade coins as well. This G6 1876-CC now belongs to another low-grade SLH fan on this board.

I really like the CC coins (not cheap but doable in my case) I am going to go after 1794 onwards (minus 1796, 1797 and a few others) up to the end of liberty caps. Will take the remainder of my life and that is fine with me. Just going to add a bunch every year and at some point will reach my goal....in no rush. The 1794 I will be able to afford once I sell some of my key Latin American coins (that may be in 2025 or 2026 will see).
I have personal things to get in order in my life once that is done then I will deal with buying a low grade 1794.

I have a thing for brownies from the 70's ...

Sorry for being nosy, but with over 6600 posts and a handle like "WildWestHalfDollars," you're just now starting to collect US half dollars? That 54-O is very nice. It's a great date for finding nice coins.
Here's my favorite 54-O of the three I own.

PCGS VF30 - somebody had too much coffee grading this coin
And in a moment of self-awareness after two Monster energy drinks, look who's asking - A guy named "Barberian" who hasn't acquired a Barber half in over 15 years.

A real Saturday morning before the banks close on a long weekend. Hard to believe these things are still coming from banks! Someone purchased a Mint roll and I'm getting it for face. Wish me luck. You know what I'm looking for. 😉
