Photo Cert Type 1: 9 2019-present - Up 2 from a year ago with those two coming up in the last 2 months. Photo Cert Type 2: 4 2019-present - Unchanged Gen 3 Slab: 108 2015-present - Up 12. This to holds to the 10-12 average new holders that show up each year. Gen 7.0 Slab: 68 2015-present - Up 8 Problem Gen P2: 5 2014-present - Up 1 Problem Gen P3: 5 2015-present - Unchanged Problem Gen P4: 24 2018-present - Up 4 Problem Gen P6.5: 32 2015-present - Up 2
I have been collecting photo certs and SWH now for over 12 years and have 63 photo certs types 1-10 and many transfers.
Type 1 I just bought and you have it on your list A4555, 1932-D Quarter
Type 2 is on your list E5778A. 1976 Proof set, Half with reverse struck thru thread.
But the other 61 photo certs you don't have.

No, I don't believe yours is a Gen. 3 slab. Yours is one of the later slabs where the bar code was left off to make room for additional information (in this case "Broadstruck Clashed Dies").
One way you can tell is that your cert number is seven digits and all of the Gen. 3 slabs only have six digit cert. numbers. Additionally all of the cert. numbers on Gen. 3 slabs begin with a "3" if I am not mistaken.
To answer your other question, it is believed that the Gen. 3 slabs were only produced for a few weeks in 1991.

I was curious where that conversation is happening especially that the last post on this blog was from a year ago. I would love to join that conversation.

This ANACS Gen 4 slab with serial number 81 turned up at a Texas show recently and I picked it up for bid... No scratches or cracks, it is a very clean slab! I know there is a market for the low s/n PCGS slabs, but not sure about Gen4s... If anyone has feedback on connecting it with the right collector feel free to DM.
Cool low serial number! There is definitely a market for these low serial numbered ANACS even though they came out well into the gen 4 holders run. There are far too many people who think it means they are early holders. I've seen them sell on eBay, GC and other platforms at a premium.

Not sure if posted these before on this thread- apologies if I did.
I got these from a friend of mine who worked at ANACS while they were in Austin. These were given to the employees to commemorate the end of the early white holders and the start of the rounded blue holders. The cert #'s on these are only 23 apart, so with these there is an actual date for when the transition was done:

Just a correction on the designation, it wasn't commemorating the end of the white holder and the start of the rounded blue holders but the end of those two and the beginning of the "new" squared off blue holder.

That makes more sense. I remember the 'new' ones coming out while they were in Austin, and they moved to Colorado at the end of 2007 if I remember correctly.
I think the old white ones were being used for reholders, if I remember correctly, up until they discontinued the rounded ones. I have 100+ ANACS sample slabs- I'll go thru my collection and see if I have the squared-off ones!

@86Saab I just went thru my samples. I have a squared off 'Enjoy the new view' holder with a 2005-D nikel, but the label does not have the date like yours does. Cert #92009477

@cmerlo1 You have an impressive ANACS sample collection, I only have around a dozen of them.
Also, I know the white holders were being used for problem coins during the gen 7 (rounded blue) holder run. Though I haven't heard one way or another about them being used to reholder old white holders. That would be interesting to hear if you know anything about that.

Just for the record, and not to diminish your purchase which is awesome, but while the XA0001 may have been the first officially certified coin for public consumption, it wasn't the first coin encapsulated, those were the A-certs.

WOW. Unfortunately, the certification date in the DB will be 2005 (I don't remember the exact date), as that's when the original database was migrated to the new grading software database. All coins certified prior to that date received the migration date instead of the actual date, if that was ever even known in the old DB. Fortunately, the data is still there, just not the actual date the order was finalized.

Now, understand what that means...
When Amos bought ANACS in 1989, they continued using the XX#### numbering pattern.
They switched to all numeric in 1991.
They had a conversion but that left gaps, so they started with 0#### then 7#### etc. But those come after the approx. 280k XX#### certs.
You can look up in the database either way.
