and then we have tonight. circled this game back when the line first came out. said it was disrespectful that we were getting points at home in week 1 against the Vikes, and that we are going to win outright. was that a head or heart statement? partly heart, but my head truly believes that the optics are going to be different right out of the chute by virtue of our new fancy-schmancy OC-turned-HC.
with that said, i'm due to lose. i could have easily lost with every single team i bet on yesterday, but didn't lose with any of them. and anyone who gambles knows that you can only tread on thin ice for so long before you fall through.

Rooting for you brother, I'm a Chicago guy tonight!
I have very little faith in the Vikings in this game. I know they have the odds but I don’t get it. I have heard some optimism on these forums about McCarthy but I’ve heard nothing good in the real world.

I mean he played at Michigan where he never had to be the main cog in the wheel, from what I remember him doing I think any average QB could have done, they had a great D and a solid running game, McCarthy just needed to be at Trent dilfer type guy and minimize mistakes so yeah I don't know why everyone is high on him either
I think JJ will need an active year of work ahead of him to get the bugs out. This is where Caleb and Jordan have the advantage with there time having been put in getting game experience.

for 3 quarters Minnesota said take this game. seriously, take it. we have a rookie QB who is sopping wet behind the ears and has zero experience with game speed.
then we were up 17-6 at the Minny 24 and decided to blow our foot off and not get a single point. that's when the sick feeling set in. sure enough, Minnesota flipped a switch. we've given you ample time to put us away and you refuse to do it, so now we're going to ambush you in the 4th
disgusting way to lose, but as i said up above, i was due for one
Thanks. Tough loss for you, especially when you had them for awhile and they let you get your hopes up. All of us players have had that expectation in a game over the years, only to crash and burn.

I didn't bet the game, I just took DJ Moore and Cole Kmet for first TD dart throws so the outcome made no difference to. me but that being said Sorry @galaxy27 but any team that lets another team just freaking hang around deserves to lose and be made fools of.
It happens over and over again, you let a team hang around it's going come back and bite you in the ass
The moneyline favorites won 13 or 14 out of the 16 games on Week 1 (depending if you saw Buffalo early at -120 or -105 at the close). It's extremely hard to not make money in that situation.

i totally concur, especially after the game the previous night. Buffalo never looked like they had a chance to win that game.......until they did. and that's why i started to experience the aforementioned sick feeling during last night's game. it became very evident that we were screwing around when we should have been up at least 3 scores. do that and there's an above-average chance you're going to pay the ultimate price.
after the missed FG toward the end of the 3rd it truly was if Minny said, "ok we've given you 3 quarters to take this thing, now you're going to get a version of us you haven't seen all game." then voila, McCarthy started playing like Fran Tarkenton. even when we had the lead i came very close to posting on here............"blue i'll swap wagers with you." i knew what was coming.
i don't think this has been mentioned anywhere, but we had 127 yards worth of penalties last night. it is very, very hard to beat anyone when you're that undisciplined. all game long you're either ending your own drives and/or extending theirs.
oh and one other thing. it dawned on me this morning that my favorite team (Bears) and my 1a team (Cardinals) are very similar. they both have QBs who show glimpses, but rarely sustain it for 4 quarters and 17 games. and it should never be that way, because they have weapons at their disposal.
the Cardinals are notorious for doing what the Ravens and Bears did the previous two nights. glimpses, then a complete disappearing act. hell they did it against the Saints last Sunday. giving off the appearance that they're going to win that game by 4 touchdowns, and the next thing you know the offense completely bogs down in the 2nd half and New Orleans was about 10 yards away from tying the game on the final play. and if they had scored on that play, they probably would have gone for two. and if they had gotten the 2, it would be yet another example of paying the ultimate price for not putting a team away.
the NFL is starting to mirror the NBA........if you don't drive your spikes into the neck of the opponent when you have them down, they're going to get up............then it's on

Caleb Williams started off 10 for 10 passing then finished 21 for 35, sucks you lost brother
My Six got games against the A's who are horrible as well as series against the Jays and Yanks so they could put their big boy pants on and win the division.
Houston just because they always are around come playoff time

I'm probably missing something, but the odds on that seem way higher than I think it should be.
I mean you're got two locks, I think the Dodgers will outkick the Padres, Astros have a 2 game lead. Of course by far the toughest one is your Red Sox, as yes they're only 3 games out, but the problem is they have to climb over two other teams to get there. So obviously throwing in the Red Sox is what fattened those odds.
Win or lose, I think it's a very interesting play.

The Astros were + 200 or something but the Sox were +1000
Once you add other teams the odds go up a lot, that's why I put "Fillers" in big parlays like even teams with -2000 odds help move the needle up

Wouldn't have guessed that high of 10-1 on the Red Sox. But I didn't look at their remaining schedule or anything. As mentioned, I do realize how tough it is to jump over two teams this late in the season. Many fans don't understand the math behind that, it's harder than it looks.
All that being said, I still think it's a very interesting play.

Honestly the reason I took the Sox is they control. a lot of their own destiny, they have a series against the Jays and the Yankees who are 1 and 2 in the division so if they are going to make a move it will happen now or never this season so I threw the dart!
And yes it's extremely difficult but they "Can" do it

Win or lose, that's some excellent handicapping, and makes it even a better value. The bookies computer may not have fully picked up on that.
Always tough to hit a 10-1 shot, but in my opinion that's a wager that may be in the bettor's favor.

I'm the spoiler tonight. Went ML Vikings. Good luck to all. At least one of us will win.

Bears should be up by a lot more points given the Vikings poor play.

100%
we fooled around for 3 quarters and now we're getting exactly what we deserved

Don't get many chances to kick a dog when they are down.
Well, it may be time to retract my opinion of JJ. At least for this game.

I’ll admit I’m surprised how that game turned out. Score one for whatever probabilities produced those odds.
