I'd like to hear about all of the great, big-time wins that #1 overall pick had as a quarterback in college...

I've never seen him play but his route to be the #1 pick overall is bizarre.

Don't forget to go to Panini Instant and pick up your Sanders card that looks like this (so far):

    Enjoy your collection!

My logic about drafting a QB as a Browns fan: the franchise has displayed a cunning ignorance when it comes to evaluating that position over the years. Current GM Andrew Berry has been around for a few drafts and was involved in picking Baker Mayfield, but he was also involved in getting rid of that same player. Every member here seems to agree on one thing and one thing only --- this is a poor year for QB's. Understanding that, why waste a pick in the first three rounds on an almost certain bust???

Pick up OL's, DL's, DB's and if your need is somewhere else and an outstanding athlete is available, pick him. Absolutely don't take a "flyer" on a QB. Look at the first round picks and that's exactly what you'll see, Lineman on both sides, TE's which are primarily blockers, a few WR's/RB's and a couple QB's. I would expect to see that trend continue through Fridays two rounds.

Cleveland needs to use the picks they have to strengthen the team without worrying about a HERO who can come in and transform them into an 11-5 playoff contender. That ain't gonna happen!! Improve both sides of LOS and let Picket/Flacco serve as "game managers" until someone good comes out, maybe next season.

Your logic is respectable but there is that argument that you still don't know what your going to get with these QB's

Imagine if Sanders turns out to be the next Jalen Hurts and you passed on him?

IDK the longer you wait on potential starting QB's the less likely your team is going to be buying into the process,, as it is your Browns got a disgruntled Myles Garrett who is the leader of that team, how many other great players are going to be impatient while they are waiting another season and suffering through a Kenny Picket or Joe Flacco campaign??.

I think the Browns will be incredibly stupid if they don't try out Sanders at #33 or #36 ( Think that's their picks )

I'm totally fine with them not taking a chance with him or Dart at 2 or 5 though, but 2nd round is not that much risk

Probably because jobs are going to be on the line and Joe Flacco will be turning 41 midway through the season. Not drafting a QB and sticking with a fossil like Joe actually sounds like that Haslam Affect that you keep talking about lol.

I could understand not wanting to see Shedeur get drafted by the Browns but passing over the position entirely because you don’t want to see him be the pick seems like a horrible plan. Especially when you factor in that Cleveland just added additional valuable picks.

Their situation is the perfect time to find a mid round QB to sit and develop for a year or two. Otherwise they’ll just be drafting a kid down the road and just throwing him to the wolves in week one. Again, that would be that Haslam Affect again where he ruins another kid’s future by forcing him to start before he’s ready.

They need to bring in a young QB to sit and develop even if it’s not Shedeur. Round one has ended and there’d be zero pressure on that QB to now be the Browns savior.

Last season from 33-100 there were 15 WR/TE/RB's and 16 OL's taken. The rest were defensive players. Nothing tells me this draft will be any different.

Just to be sure, picking any QB this year before the 4th round to me seems a bad move and a wasted pick. If Sanders is available at that point, sure, take a chance. Sanders is a problem waiting to happen, drafting him and sitting him for a season would be terrible for a locker room. All you have to do is read reports and his interviews coupled with what his old man says. What team needs that??

However it works out we will know by the end of the evening. If Sanders isn't taken tonight..........................

There’s going to be at minimum a QB or two taken over the next 68 picks. This draft was bad for high end QB talent but plenty of teams still need one or maybe looking to upgrade their QB depth chart, it happens every year.

I'm not saying Sanders was worthy of being an early first round pick but he was projected to be #1 overall

Has there ever been a QB projected to be the first pick and then not even taken in the first round?

i wonder how many college football players have had their number retired at their university, then 5 days later weren't drafted in the first round

It just seems all the NFL teams didn't want to put up with the crap "Coach Sanders and his kid" are going to do if Sanders got 1st round money! Pretty much silencing him to come in and just be a NFL player not a big mouth Prima Donna!

Still the Browns may take him in round 2.........let's see

The tongue bath that these ESPN draft guys keep giving Shedeur is starting to get cringe worthy, he'll get drafted when he gets drafted. Stop treating this like some Greek tragedy already.

Totally unrelated but I'd be over the moon to see the Pats land one or more of these players with their three picks tonight.
    TE Mason Taylor
    WR Jack Bech
    Tackle Ozzy Trapilo

The media and the Sanders social media camp really built him up to be something hes not and NFL teams are aware of this. Hes good not great and he spent his entire college career in conferences that dont play a lot of defense in programs designed around him. He had the best player in the draft Hunter get really mad at him on the sidelines more than one time and a habit of blaming teammates for failure.

Ewers should go before Hunter but I understand if the injury history scares teams off. For those that think Sanders is a stud getting over looked ask yourself this, why werent elite WRs transferring to Colorado? They transferred into Texas and Ole Miss even turning down places like Alabama to play with Ewers and Dart so it wasnt all just about the most money for their decisions. Colorados second best WR actually transferred out

Judkins is a stud that was a good pick for the Browns. Would have liked to see the Pats go WR but Henderson is a stud too and thats a good pick

With Judkins going to the Browns is this the ticket for Chubb's exit?

Good D tackle for the Bills with TJ Sanders.

Saints took Tyler Shough over Sanders

if the big piece of humble pie sliding to day 2 wasn't enough, that should do the trick

and my 1a team just got him

screw the injury risk, that's what this sport is all about

we're talking about a two-time all-american who had more pick 6s than touchdowns given up in his career at Michigan

oh, and he was the defensive player of the game in the '24 champ tilt

great pick by the Cardinals.......serious value at 47

Teams were scared that hes slow for his position, then add the injury and that he benefited greatly from an elite pass rush.

Great pick by the Bears though

Just catching up with the picks now with the C's game at halftime.
I really like the Henderson pick for NE who should fill the James White/Danny Woodhead/Dion Lewis role quite well.
Bummed that the Jets stole my TE. 😠
Like how the Bears added more to their offense with Luther Burden after Loveland last night.
Also liked the Texans going with the WR HIggins and CJ's new LT Ersery.
Surprised to see the Browns go with a LB with that first pick, not surprised about the RB though.
Horrible injury luck with Will Johnson falling so far, not long ago he was being mocked in the top 7-8 picks.

Neion Deion and Shadeur must be arguing or I bet Deion is at least on his back foot defending himself from Shadeur blaming him for this steady diet of humble pie lol

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 31,759 ✭✭✭✭✭

I do like that Henderson pick for the Pats but I would have preferred Will Johnson

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,865 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Browns aren't really deep at RB so picking Judkins doesn't really mean Chubb is done, just more competiton in training camp and a better 2nd back than what they have now.

And finally, Sanders gets picked --- 41. Bills (from Bears): T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina!! Oops, it ain't Sheduer.

@perkdog, since Tom Brady is supposedly involved in player evaluation and selection it may tell the NFL an awful lot if the Raiders skip him.
