Honestly, Sanders has as much of a shot of being successful as any QB drafted this year. Personally, I think he is not going to be very good but who really cares about how a 5th round draft pick does?
Definitely was a 'put him in his place' decision by the NFL teams on Sanders. That said, I think his biggest issue is taking sacks and that typically may mean slow decision making/defense recognition which would be unfixable in the NFL. His best attribute seems to be accuracy which is generally the second or third most important trait for a QB. So it will all boil down to whether he puts in the time in the film room and has the ability to take the film room work onto the field.
As for the attitude nonsense, the NFL is filled with a never ending list of divas and I doubt Sanders is any worse than most of them. If he can play, then coaches and players will laud his confidence. The narrative ends up being based almost purely on the results on the field.

But the difference between Shadeur and all the other divas is they don't have a Prime Time Dad in the mix.
I think Sanders is going to be a good QB if he matures and puts in the work, he will definitely be better than his competition in Browns camp imo
Had some thoughts on how the draft played out overall...Really loved how some teams with young QBs went all in by surrounding their guy with good young talent so he can be successful as soon as possible.
Chicago adding a great TE/WR/RB trio in Loveland/Burden/Monangai while also adding a future starter at tackle in Trapilo.
Houston adding a LT in Ersery while giving Stroud four playmakers in Higgins/Noel/Marks/Lachey.
New England went about protecting Drake Maye with the two highest rated players at tackle & center to go along with a couple speedy playmakers in Henderson & Williams.
If Sanders develops into becoming the guy in Cleveland, having two RBs like Judkins & Sampson will take a ton of pressure of Shedeur. That future Jags #1 is also a huge bonus.
The Chargers gave Herbert a killer RB in Hampton and big deep threat in Tre Harris.
The Raiders offense got a huge boost with Jeanty/Bech/Thornton to go along with a couple of tackles.
Tennessee found their new young QB while adding a bunch of playmakers for him.
GB gave Jordan Love two speedy wideouts in Matthew Golden & Savion Williams.
Jacksonville gave T-Law some dynamic playmakers in Travis Hunter, Bhayshul Tuten & LeQuint Allen.
Dallas came away with a great 1-2 punch at RB in Mafah/Blue.
Atlanta's defense just got much faster with the Walker/Pearce/Watts/Bowman picks.
The Giants found a good young QB/RB duo in Dart/Skattebo on top of landing the best player on defense in Carter.
The Bills loaded up on defense, one player being 6-7 DT Deone Walker.
The Bucs may have found their next Chris Godwin in Emeka Egbuka.
The Steelers may have found their next great Edge/LB type in Jack Sawyer.
It was business as usual for all four of the Chiefs, Eagles, Ravens & 49ers where each came away with great overall draft classes, like they do every year.
Now the next big waiting game is on trading camp and pre-season.
In my mind it’s really hard as fans to evaluate these players unless we watched a lot of NCAA football the last few years. One thing that sticks out for me about every player: we only see clips of their “highlights” and never their screw ups, mistakes or just poor play. That makes it hard to have a well rounded opinion about how good they are.
As I posted elsewhere, there are about 18,000 players in D1 FBS programs. That gets whittled down to about 1,800 in the NFL. Every QB is now trying to outrun the fastest DL’s in college on each play, every RB is trying to get past the best DL’s in college on each play, etc.
I’m not saying these guys who were drafted by each team aren’t good, but the odds are stacked against them. Looking only at the Browns I would say maybe 2 of the 7 they drafted will make the roster of an NFL team. You can’t hide from statistics.

I think a lot of that goes without saying. Not every player coming into the league is guaranteed to hit and become a superstar but you could still have a high success rate in finding starter/depth/development type of roles within your roster. It comes down to each team's ability to find & develop players coming into the league and looking at past performance through statistics should definitely be taken into consideration but it really comes down to just how good you are finding contributing NFL players. Some teams are great at that, others not so much.
@MaywoodLooking only at the Browns I would say maybe 2 of the 7 they drafted will make the roster of an NFL team. You can’t hide from statistics.
Who would be your 2 from that group of 7 players that may have a chance at making the Browns roster?
Just due to draft position alone, Graham/Schwesinger/Judkins/Fannin/Sampson are pretty much all guaranteed a roster spot and I don't see the Browns just wasting th 144th pick in the draft on Sanders, to only release him a few months later. Cleveland just finished the year with the 2nd overall pick, they're really not in a position to go throwing away draft picks on players who won't make the roster in their first NFL season. Players don't pan out all the time but you still need to treat those draft slots like gold because they're the quickest way for you to improve your roster every year.
Kevin Stefanski is an offensive minded head coach and if he's picking all of those offensive players in rounds 2-5 then there's a real good chance that they'll not only make the roster but probably see a fair amount of playing time. Maybe someone gets hurt or there's a situation where something negative happens and the guy never gets signed coming out of the draft but incidents like that are rare.
Its going to be interesting to see if those two RB picks means the end has finally come for Nick Chubb playing for the Browns.
As for the attitude nonsense, the NFL is filled with a never ending list of divas and I doubt Sanders is any worse than most of them. If he can play, then coaches and players will laud his confidence. The narrative ends up being based almost purely on the results on the field.

The big difference is that those divas don't play quarterback. Sanders has a history of blaming teammates and complaining about them, to go with being a diva. Not what teams want in a quarterback.
Shadeur is handling it very well, I'm rooting for the kid
He might have landed in one of the better situations for him. There'll be expectations just due to the narrative around his draft position but with all of the Watson drama still hanging over the Browns it's likely going to keep some of the pressure off of him in his first NFL training camp.
So when is Netflix planning the roast of Shedeur Sanders? After the first roaster, Jeff Ross, gets done with him, Shedeur will be screaming for an apology. LOL
It was a harmless prank for crying out loud. Shedeur should have had a good laugh about it, and then quickly forgot about it. I'm not sure what the dollar amount on that slot will be, but he's about to become rich. He should be happy about that. But instead he makes a big deal over nothing, and basically forced that kid to make an apology. I guess Allen Funt was supposed to apologize after every one of his Candid Camera TV shows?
Now what is poor little diva Shedeur gonna do when he's in a NFL game, and those defensive killers across from him start taunting him mercilessly? After he throws five picks, is he gonna phone daddy Sanders and complain about how all those mean defensive players said all those bad things during the game, and made him lose his concentration.
Frankly, this guy has "bust" written all over him, and it won't even be close. Johnny Manziel might wind-up looking good in comparison.
sometimes, when you just laugh things off, they turn into not a big deal and get forgotten about quickly. He got prank called, just not a big deal. I am sure all of us who were around before the advent of caller ID have been the target of such.
that said, I dont think the Sanders family has much history of laughing things off...
This explains some of why he was passed over and why I sank when the pick was announced: DRAMA.
It will surround him at training camp and the Browns organization and the Sanders family should start preparing for it now. Cleveland struggles as it is, they don’t need any more distractions.
"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety," --- Benjamin Franklin
I think the issue with the prank call is more about how did he get the special number
As for the Browns QB room 4 arent going to make the roster or would be crazy if they did. One of the four is going to be pushed out and I dont think it is Flacco or Dillion being picked in the third round
With all of the undrafted signings over the last few days, it feels like the NFL is leaving money on the table by not televising additional rounds. Per the web "In the 1940s, there were as many as 32 rounds. Years after merging with the AFL, the NFL reduced the number of rounds from 17 to 12 in 1977. The draft became seven rounds in 1994 -- after the NFL first tried out eight rounds in 1993".

I'm not saying 17 rounds but why not a few more?

Other than a few names the majority of players taken after the 4th round is pretty minimal

Vikings ignore the offensive line for years, now it's all they care about.
I guess they might need a WR2 if Addison turns out to be great and gets expensive. Drafting a WR because he might miss a couple of games because of his DUI seems foolish.
My thoughts were on defense for their 1st round pick. Would have liked to see either a good corner or stud interior defensive lineman. I don't know who was available though.
I also would have gone after a guy like Flacco HARD in free agency. McCarthy is a rookie and might not be any good, he also might get hurt again. The roster looks impressive, although a little old and injury prone in spots. A good proven back up QB would be nice. NOT Rodgers though.
Go Vikings!

I see both sides of the argument to be honest, there is nothing wrong with concentrating on the D but upgrading the WR corps would make sense since Allen scored a lot of TDs via running it in

Did Allen run for a bunch of TDs because he didn't have any good WRs or was it because he's 6-5 and close to 240lbs? Not to mention QBs running for TDs usually means that its a red zone thing where the guy consciously makes the decision to run it instead of throwing it. Its not like Buffalo didn't have redzone-type targets for him to throw to last season when Coleman, Hollins, Kincaid & Knox were all at least 6-4.
I got a laugh out of that video more for Beane's feistiness there than Bills fans wanting another wideout and whether or not it was a position of need for them. Teams only have a finite number of picks and its not like the Bills neglected that position in recent years when they've drafted at least one WR for six years straight, they just didn't use their high picks on one in 2025.

I laughed at Bean as well, I got a kick out of him going on the offensive right off the rip. lol
I didn't watch a lot of the Bills but none of his WR:s are anything great but can't argue with 30 points for that stretch or whatever the numbers were but it wasn't all from the WR's that's where I understand the fans side of it.
Either way whatever the Bills did I hope it doesn't work if the Pats can make the playoffs, if they can't I wish Buffalo well otherwise.

It's all about the advertising $ the NFL is potentially missing out on.

The Browns taking these two QB's truly is baffling to me. Both appear to be losers, but we shall see how it all works out.
Even assuming no Watson Pickett is the most likely out. Using 4 roster spots on QBs in pads would be insane

sometimes, when you just laugh things off, they turn into not a big deal and get forgotten about quickly. He got prank called, just not a big deal. I am sure all of us who were around before the advent of caller ID have been the target of such.
that said, I dont think the Sanders family has much history of laughing things off...
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I guess I shouldn't call him "She Dear", I might get in trouble.
I think the issue with the prank call is more about how did he get the special number
As for the Browns QB room 4 arent going to make the roster or would be crazy if they did. One of the four is going to be pushed out and I dont think it is Flacco or Dillion being picked in the third round
this aged well
stay classy and especially stay humble, coach prime
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
This is the classy way to react to a prank:
I never saw that before lol
Gross, but he did get that big piece of humble pie for his troubles lol
With all of the undrafted signings over the last few days, it feels like the NFL is leaving money on the table by not televising additional rounds. Per the web "In the 1940s, there were as many as 32 rounds. Years after merging with the AFL, the NFL reduced the number of rounds from 17 to 12 in 1977. The draft became seven rounds in 1994 -- after the NFL first tried out eight rounds in 1993".
I'm not saying 17 rounds but why not a few more?
Who is interested in players that nobody heard of?
Other than a few names the majority of players taken after the 4th round is pretty minimal
many players in the later rounds will only see the practice squad. only occasionally will one hit.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Yep
Go Vikings!
Buffalo's GM putting the smackdown on the Bills Mafia lol.

It was even more entertaining hearing it live, his rant starts right at the beginning and its only like a minute or two long.

They're defense should be better and it will definitely be interesting to see how it all plays out. Maybe our resident Bills fan chimes in on their picks. 🤷♂️

We probably won't see Joe till well. after training camp starts
darin & dueces went on a kansas city chiefs/buffalo bills-themed tandem cruise where clothing is optional at all times
they'll be back later
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I would even say that after the 1-2 rounds most people haven't heard of the names. Even judging by the crowd reactions you could tell they had absolutely no idea who a player was that their team selected.
It's all about the advertising $ the NFL is potentially missing out on.
Sure I can agree with that part of it

Apparently Sanders wasn't the only one who got a prank call
Hopefully it wasn't the same kid as the Shedeur phone call that called them all, his stupidity just cost his father 100K and the Falcons 250K.
