How about a trio of 1863 w/L proof Indian Head Cents. All are very rare, much rarer than the 1864 L proofs. Struck later in the 1869-1871 time frame, these should actually be considered novodels. Since these were struck after the year that appears on the coin, these technically should not even be considered patterns, more so fantasy pieces.

    Aluminum - 3 known

Love all those Indian Patterns (or whatever you like to call them). I very much like your Aluminum piece. I am sure you enjoyed Heritage's last auction as they had had a nice selection of 1c pieces. That consigner had a very full set of 1 Cent patterns

I was able to pick up a few of those patterns. They pretty much went for strong money across the board.
I upgraded my J-191 to PF64CAM, one of only 2 cameos graded. This makes 6 of my 1858 pattern set with Cameo Designation now.
    Picked up a 1859 J-226
Lastly the J-405 that was shown above.

It was a fun auction to watch, lots of very scarce ones for sale there.

Love the J-1018. This one has the same obverse but different reverse. I prefer the J-1018 though.

    (Not my coin)

Congrats on all the pick ups ... the J226 i think is nice and scarce ... even if thier are a dozen out there they do not come across the table offen. I waited a long time before I picked up the Simpson piece in his auction. I love the 1858 set . Mine are more middle of the line in grades and I had thought to upgrade but I get distracted with other samples ... I picked up a couple of the Liberty Head 5C Patterns in that auction. Good luck in your hunting.

Here's my trio. First modern gold commemorative coin. I still need to get the last 2 coins (Proof P & D) for the 5 coin set.
I posted these on the "Show us a collage or group of some of your favorite coins in your collection" thread as well...

I must say this thread is quite the showcase of some interesting "micro-sets" that have been put together.
