Here’s an 1893 Half from my set, with a Triple Die Reverse:
I love them Barber Halves.....4 -
Last weekends Long Beach Show pick up. Common date, yes, but a real beauty!
Dave

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.5 -
@Dave99B At first I thought you pulled that '16-D quarter out of that pile in the background and had it graded to the lofty grade of an MS63!
I can't tell from your picture... is that a green or gold CAC sticker?

I wish!
Gold CAC. I’m personally not a CAC fan, but it’s what initially caught my eye. After examining the coin, I just had to have it. So maybe I’m a CAC fan after all!

@Dave99B Any semi-key dates or neat finds in your 90% stash there?
You have inspired me to show my pick-up of 90% Barber halves

EDIT: picture of 4-roll Barber Half pick-up

Great looking rolls, Tim. I have a thing for the halves. Can’t get enough of them. I do need to look through my rolls again sometime. I doubt I’ll locate anything crazy, but you never know. I think I’m up to about 16 rolls. Man they are heavy!

WOW I love those rolls of halves guys! 16 rolls is a pretty impressive stash Dave.
I know that the 1914 S is not as uncommon as the mintage would suggest, (it seems like they're just about the MOST common slabbed date/mm) but I kinda liked the look of this one, and it's a small upgrade to one that I've had in my collection for quite a while now.

With CAC sticker assigned, these 1899-S Barber Quarters in PC25 and PC30 are only 1 of 1 within their respective grades:
1899-S BQ PCGS CAC VF25
December 21, 2014 from GreatCollections
This quarter was obtained already with CAC sticker:

1899-S BQ PCGS CAC VF30

This quarter was sent in and given a sticker:

@Dave99B, I am glad you like those VF specimens as much as I do!
Expanding the range a little bit more, here are some additional CAC-stickered 1899-S quarters.
1899-S Barber Quarter PCGS CAC VG10
Found this VG off of Ebay:

1899-S Barber Quarter PCGS CAC F12

Was looking to go another direction / look for alternatives to this AU58 PCGS 1899-P Barber Half Dollar:
1899-P Barber Half PCGS AU58

I found this 1899-P Barber Half Dollar in NGC holder at DLRC:
1899-P Barber Half NGC AU58
Recently arrived. It has an ever so slightly bolder strike and luster:

A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.

I was on cloud nine after I bought this. I realized how scarce and yet, undervalued it is.

MS66 CAC6 -
@DisneyFan Gorgeous! Love the date. In-line with the mintage of the '09-O

Here’s my 1899 S AU 58 with a RPD:

I love them Barber Halves.....6 -
@JeffMTampa Jeff, from a $375 value just 5 years prior, by 2022, the value of 1899-S Barber Quarters in PC58 went up to $1,300. You can retro-look at that as a pretty good investment.

I purchased the 1899 S for $745 in January of ‘23. It was in an ICG AU 58 holder. Cracked it out and sent it to our hosts, fortunately came back with the same grade. I like the RPD.

Sometimes you just buy what you are comfortable spending.Everyman collecting was launched within that timeframe for which Barbers are well-suited. For some dates, 58's can be a tougher get. Your 66 is pretty clean for the 66 grade. Anything found in that lofty grade is far-and-few between for sure.

Actually, MS66 Barber quarters are beyond me. I'm working on a date set and I'm happy with MS64s. The 1899-S was an outliner because it represented an opportunity to get a good value for the money.

Looks nice Tim. I was about to post my '06D in 35 but am not real impressed with it. I'm open to considering a replacement if anyone has an extra they'd care to part with. I'll post my '06 raw that I got from Lenny:

I learned something new tonight: It's better to take your coins out and actually look at them rather than try to assess them by the pics that you have. There is sometimes a world of difference between what they look like on a screen compared to what they look like at arms length with good lighting. Enjoy your coins!

The 1888 Lib Nickel was graded as MS63. This 1890 came back in the same returning shipment in the same grade:

@jedm Jed, nice date in a pleasant-looking coin for the grade. Thanks for sharing.
I was having a conversation with K+R (Rodney) at CoinX (hosted by Scotsman) in St. Louis Friday. Rodney agrees mid-circ coins like Jed's '11-D are near non-existant now in straight grades. I am missing the '11-D in my VF30 slot. Rodney's '11-D that I looked at had wipe-scratches. I saw Dave Earp at CoinX and he showed me a beautiful white '97-S ctr. MM from his personal collection in PCGS AU55 which I appreciated. Beautiful coin. Slow show per West Coast Oregon with the people I talked with there.
I have a new Barber quarter arriving this week which I will post here when it arrives.

@sedulous Tim, I'm looking forward to seeing what you bought. I haven't added a Barber quarter to my set since this '16 in ANACS AU-58 that I "accidentally" bought back at the end of Sept. from DLRC for what I think was a little too much. I wanted to bid $215 but added an extra zero so my bid was $2150. I didn't notice until like a day or two later and just crossed my fingers that no one else had put in a nuclear bid... I ended up getting winning the auction at $330. Oops.

Edited to add: I do like the coin and to me it looks nicer in hand than the photos. It's got a nice bluish toning that is hard to capture in pics.2 -
Hey Jed, and everyone, here is the Barber Quarter I picked up from Northeast Coin. It is a 1912-S BQ in PCGS VF30. I have a VF25 and a VF35 but I was strictly looking for a VF30 to add to the Sedulous #2 Registry Set:

It's been a minute since I've visited the forums. I hope everyone is well and enjoying their collections. Even though I don't collect anymore, I occasionally look around just to see what's on the market. I saw this coin coin offered recently and thought of @JeffMTampa . I remember you had a half with this similar die clashing in the ear and for the longest time could not find another. I kind of forgot about it so now the auction is over but still wanted to share anyways.
Hope you all enjoy your holidays!
