“Invalid NFC Technology Detected” Message

I just received two slabs back from our host and scanned them to make sure the chips work properly. One of them worked just fine, the other pulled up all of the correct info and Truviews but also displays the aforementioned message in a big red banner at the top of the page. See attached pic. Has anyone seen this before? I seem to recall some past posts about issues with the chips, mainly that they wouldn’t pull up anything when scanned but don’t remember seeing this specific issue.

I received three coins back from PCGS today and all three get the dreaded red NFC banner. Certification page opens just fine and the TrueViews are there.

I had some issues a few months ago with the chips, but it seemed to be a problem with the server and not the actual slab.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Any resolution on this? My three problematic holders still get the error. I emailed PCGS, but havent gotten anything other than the standard auto response. I work for a living, so I can't be calling PCGS when they open, nor can I accept a call back during work hours.

As an update to my situation that is identical to the OP's, PCGS informed me via email today that I will have to send my three coins/holders back to them on their dime to get the problem resolved.

I went thru this situation of having to send the coins back at their cost last year.
They prioritize fixing the issue and all went well.
They maintain the original cert# and in my case they included a TV.

I haven't ever checked any of mine. Is it true you can tell what is inside a bubble wrapped mailer?

When I ship valuable coins or gold, I wrap in aluminum foil, but might just be tin cap theory....

I have been dragging my feet to send them back due to the hassle of using FedEx at my location, and lo and behold, PCGS emailed me this afternoon and told me that they fixed the issue on their end.

I just pulled the three holders from the safe and they now work exactly as they should. I'm so glad that I procrastinated on shipping them back to PCGS!

Well, here I am 6 months later bumping this thread again with the same issue with a later batch of coins that I sent in.

About two weeks ago, I received 8 coins that I had reholdered in Gold Shield holders. I happened to have my safe opened tonight and was looking at my coins. I realized that I hadn't checked the NFC function on this group, so I did so and discovered the same "red banner of death" as the other batch. Here we go again...

Anyone else have this problem recently, or has lightning just struck twice for me?

My latest sub also has this issue. Hopefully an easy fix but I don't have that answer yet.

I had it happen on a recent sub as well, they said the only way to fix was getting it reholdered after IT tried and apparently failed to fix it on their end.

I’ve had QC issues on 3 of my last 5 submissions. It has been very frustrating.

I'm am very happy to report that Hy at PCGS contacted me both via email and through private message here very quickly after I posted to this thread tonight. I'm hopeful that this issue can be corrected much faster than the last one.

I haven't received a final reply from PCGS yet, but on a whim I just checked my slabs and the error is gone and they scan just fine.
