Picked up yesterday (Friday) at the Michigan State fall show.
Traded 3 type-3 $20's:
1904 ms62, 1895-S and 1897-S ms61
over 2 transactions for these two.
Two dates I wanted.
1876 Ms61
1907 Ms64
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
Just a matter of hours now. Stress levels are rising. Finding that crusty 55/54 on eBay last night gave me some wonderful relief from the stress, but now it's back.
I made it through this day relatively stress-free. Tomorrow, I may sacrifice the neighbor's dog to please the One-day delivery gods and then anxiously wait.
This isn't real. This isn't normal for me. This is Hemingway's "Old man and the Sea." This is reckless and fun. But the wait is excruciating. Every time the dogs start barking, I check the roadway. Usually, it's at damn neighbor's dog or a squirrel on the porch.
This is funny, kinda. I had to go to the doctor to get a flu shot and a referral on Tuesday in the middle of this wait for MR BIG to arrive. They took my blood pressure, and it was by far the highest it's ever been measured for me. I told them I might burst the cuff on that thing before they took it. It hurt. A warning.
Boom! It's over! All the stress of arranging funds and tracking it for three days is over. It's now just like any other coin that happens to be sitting on my desk

If that's like "any other coin that happens to be sitting on my desk" I would like
to spend an afternoon sorting thru the goodies.
I thought I'd post how I felt going through this major reach of a purchase with some levity. Keep people wondering what was coming - kind of schtick. However, it really was tense for me, and I hadn't seen the coin yet.
Now that I've looked at it in hand, I fully understand its flaws and strengths. There were no negative surprises given the number of photos available on the internet. The degree of retoning on the obverse was nice to see as it hides the wiping. It's a G6 with a "C" obverse and a "B" reverse, in my opinion. The obverse has retoned and the coin looks nice in-hand. Just don't look too closely.
I wouldn't buy it if it were a 78-P. I'd consider it as a 78-CC. It's perfectly fine as a 78-S! I like it! The selection is limited; most examples are in much higher grades. It definitely tops the nice AU Columbian half dollar I use for a filler in my Dansco, though that filler will remain in its place.

Actually, there is no other coin even close to this coin's stature in my collection. You are welcome to come over and look, though.
I can relate to your anxiety level rising at each step the item has to go thru.
My stress level also elevates as each step is met and this is for a small priced item.
I cannot describe what my mental state would be if I purchased a $100.00-$2,000 item.
I also have an unusual path that my item travels (this is getting to be a standard route of travel and not an exception).
The shipping label is created, item accepted at post office of origin, item accepted at distribution center and then item departed distribution center to its destination facility.
This is pretty standard for all of us.
Here is where it gets interesting for me.
My item arrives at my Ma distribution center in Springfield Ma.
It then moves to the next facility at Boston Ma distribution center.
It then goes down the road to the Boston Ma sorting center.
It then goes to Avon MA so it can arrive again back at the Boston MA distribution center.
The next step is the item is shipped out of state to Nashua NH. ???
Guess where it goes next. Yup the Boston Ma distribution center.
It then leaves The Boston distribution center and arrives at my local post office in Medford Ma.
There it sits here until they finally post that it is out for delivery.
Then the wait to see if the "mail person" will deliver it.
Just a fun note that the distance from the Boston distribution center to my post office is less than 7 miles. LOL
I can understand now why the post office keeps going up on the price of stamps.
I truly like the phrase, "You can't get there from here".
If I had a five-figure coin coming, I would have to be institutionalized.
My latest. Those of you that know will understand why I got it.
Not 100% sure, but I believe with some help of a fellow silver collector that this is the finial to a trophy cup. It’s partially hallmarked, but it is William IV (1830-37) sterling silver and made in London.
I absolutely love this! It looks great just sitting on a table.
Now I have 5 die states of the 1798 BB-111 / B-11 silver dollar. The terminal state I found some time back and is the only one known to me, as I discovered it as the unlisted Die State IX. It has a cud obliterating Star 13. It is cut half coin, but I have been unable to find another. The latest is the Miller specimen, PCGS XF45 (formerly NGC AU50). I need 4 more states: I, III, IV, and VIII.

Another Commemorative even though I keep saying no more... but with a mintage of only 10k and signed by the artist So my promise went out the window again... All else aside one of the nicest coins i've seen in years.
My wife and I went to the Saint Gaudens NHP in Cornish, NH late last month & both thought it was fabulous. I showed her your new medal and she was like OMG we need one. Ours came this morning. Thanks for the great idea!

Look at these mirrors from the 1950s.
"One-day delivery" will now take three days. sigh
I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.
I'll be twitching my legs non-stop all day, checking USPS tracking.
A recent modern pickup.
Slowly filling my 2nd set of silvers.

Picked this beauty up last week.
Any thoughts on the color? I'm thinking red-brown.
Reverse.
Same coin. My image and TV.

OMG! Tracking tells me it's "OUT FOR DELIVERY!" This may actually happen. Minutes become hours now.
I cannot say what it is yet as that might jinx the Post Office. More prayers to the Postal Gods!
Aaaaaah!
The dogs are barking again! For the 30th time this morning.
Going silent.
A couple adds to the boxes of 20 program.
The anxiety is over. MR BIG finally arrived after spending Thanksgiving in some mailroom somewhere. I like MR BIG. A lot.
That is a huge purchase, congrats!
