Just wrapped up a GTG on this Capped Bust Half Dollar. Purchased from a forum member. I agree with most of the guessers that this sure looks like a 55 in a 53 slab.

That’s a great looking coin. Initially I thought the luster was there to carry a AU55-58 and in the GTG I chose 58.
CBHs for me are really hard to grade from pics. I did a GTG on the AU58 1812 CBH that I have and people guessed anywhere from 45 to 55! 😂 And it’s a CAC coin.
I agree @HillbillyCollector In hand this does appear to be a 55 (when compared to other 55's). Many people hate the 53 grade and want just 50 and 55. I don't mind owning 53's that look like this one.
I have a GTG up now. Nobody wants to guess after doing this one and getting all grades that were too high
I grabbed both of these as a package deal on eBay. Really I wanted the mercury dime album but decided to grab this pair as I have a few BU Roosevelt dimes lying around.
This isn’t a series I’m too familiar with but I always take notice of the beautiful Barbers that @Eldorado9 posts from time to time. I really liked the look of this one, and the price was too good to pass on.
Not much left for my Bust dollar set, by die variety and die state. (Doubt I will be able to get both die states for this one.) 1798 BB-103, only 5 known to me.
The latest addition to my CBH collection comes from @Pnies20 . I did a few quick photos (sorry, amateur at best) to show off the obverse. None of the reverse photos were worthy of posting. Will work on that today. The surfaces are outstanding for an EF45 coin. The obverse and reverse edge toning glimmers as you rotate it in hand. Oranges, reds, golds, some greens and blues. Very excited to be able to add this coin to my collection. Many thanks to Pnies20. My first early date CBH.
Of the 11 CBH coins I now own, 9 have come from forum members.
Definitely off my beaten path of blast white coins but this one had a nice original look to it so I picked it up. Mintage for the 1938-D is very low, around 3,775 coins in total produced at the Denver mint. The production of the coin ran only five years: 1934 to 1938.
The coin represents the centennial of Texas’ Independence. The Alamo, Sam Houston and Stephen F Austin are all depicted on the reverse.
Sales of the coin never took off, initially being offered for $1 then $1.50 and by 1938 $2 each. Mintages below:

Leroy,
That is a great looking half. Good luck with your new quest!

Those "mechanical errors" are a pain to get fixed. Easiest at a show where they are doing onsite grading.

Not exactly sure what that is or where it’s from but it’s interesting for a coin.
