Yes...he's changed his user name a couple times...I think it used to be Bulldog or something like that. Anyway, Walt is a heavy hitter that is waaaaayyyyyy out of my league!

I think his ebay user is currently 13djiwu13...again, it changes on occasion. Just know that if he's bidding on something you're looking at, don't waste your time.

yes that's right about the hedge fund guy. said he was selling because he had "too many sets to keep track of". It is crazy that some of the lower pop 72 PSA 10's went as high as they did. Just takes two buyers with deep pockets going after the same card.

Same here. He's waaaaaayyyyyy out of my league. One of reasons that I decided to move on from my set. And the fact that my kids wanted nothing to do with it so I figured I'd get out when I did.

OK, so did anybody see the Heritage 7/15/23 auction results on the 1972 PSA 10 Gullett? $5,520!!! I do realize he was part of the "Big Red Machine" but come on...this is a Pop 7 "Common" in my book. I thought the Schwab guy was OUT of the '72 Set? Looks like there's another "more money than sense" '72 guy out there. What's next....$18,600 for a Pop 8 Al Oliver card....oh wait...that happened too??!!!

It's a pop 2 but that is crazy. Incidentally, that is the only WS card I don't have in 9 or 10. It's not that tough in 9 but all the ones I submitted got 8s. The last 10 of this card sold for $2k in 2018. You can pick up a 9 for a hundred bucks.

Well, the Schwab CEO guy is at it again...he may have liquidated his '72 Set (User 131313), but he's still trying to get the number one '72 Orioles Team Set. More ridiculous bidding....here's over $5,000 for a Chico Salmon card....

To be fair though Chico is one of the tougher 10s at pop 3.

The '67 set is my favorite '60's set. I broke mine up back in 2002 when I sold my Seaver PSA 10 to buy our land. I had a majority of the set in PSA10. YIKES...what that Seaver would go for now. Oh well...it was pretty fun selling a baseball card and using the proceeds to buy real estate .

The late '60's and early 70's were my "golden years" for accumulating cards with all my lawn mowing money.....I literally had banker boxes FULL of cards from that ERA when I moved to California for college. I had an inordinate amount of '67's and '72's and ended up making about 8 sets of each year. I kept the best of each year and traded off all the rest. Tons of card shows in the mid-80's when I SHOULD have been focusing on getting my degree .

Then PSA came along in about 1991 and the entire market changed. EBay happened and the graded card market exploded. I actually sold the Seaver on EBay....lots of fun!

Enough with the nostalgia...but let me know if you happen across any '72 PSA 10's...I haven't let that set go yet .

Most of the '72 Topps 10's I need are in another orbit (low pops of 3 or less). My hot buttons right now are finishing out the 200's (203, 222, 229, 292, & 296....and of course 263 if there ever is one).

OK, so I had a registry member give me a hard time for using a movie clip (see above "Need it, got it.." from Big) where they are opening 1987 Topps. He said that had NOTHING to do with 1972 Topps.

Not to be shamed, here's a clip from Blacklist where agent Ressler is looking through a box of his old things (I think season 7, episode 17 as we JUST watched it).

So sit on THAT one and spin

Sorry, I only have one of each of the two variants of the Marichal checklists in PSA 9. Wish I could have helped here.

I did a brief search on the PSA Set Registry for vintage (defined by ME as pre-1980) HOF sets by year....it looks like maybe the 1972 Topps HOF Set has the highest card count at 82.

1975....80 Cards
1973....80 Cards
1968....74 Cards
1969....71 Cards

Once you get into the 1980's (when cards were printed to virtually deplete the entire world's cardboard supply!!!), I do know the 1982 set has 86, 1983 has 98, 1984 has 93. I can't even consider those years due to the availability. I think most every collector from that era still has unopened wax boxes....probably stored in their mom's basement....next to their bed with the Farah Fawcett swimsuit poster above it

Let me know if you find a larger vintage HOF set.
