Does anyone have one for sale? As you know I’m collecting ANA, CSNA, PCNS and more numismatic coin clubs. Would love to add one to the collection

Going back to the Denver Coin Expo again today...one of our Denver Coin Club memebers had one at their table in the case.
I'll find out what they're asking for it, if it's for sale that is.
Maybe I'll pick it up and offer it to you @coinsarefun

Or possibly I'd sell mine...I don't particularly collect these.
I went to the Expo yesterday and had Dan sign the insert for mine while I was there.

I sure wanted this one, But it went way beyond what I could afford ,( especially with Dan’s Gruber stuff

coming soon‼️That Confederate is too kool.
I did win this 2006 Dan Carr Nevada quarter, I bid on it because it looks antiqued to me, I think it’s one of the Small number of the post strike tumbled or bead blasted (matte) finished , does anyone rare this is⁉️⁉️⁉️It says there were a small number done that way‼️‼️‼️
    Thanks

That 1861 brass Confederate piece had some funky bidding going on.

A bidder with (348) feedbacks had 2 different bid retractions on May 6 and May 7. Then in the last hour (May9) they placed 15 bids and still lost. I 'd like to know their ebay name so I could block them.

Yeah, I saw some weirdness going’s on with that one too…….. I saw it real high one day and way down from that price the next day…… it’s a really cool piece, but had nearly 200 minted, went for way more than I thought it would ‼️
I believe I’ll find one eventually and at a good price‼️‼️👍

Well, the bidding may have been suspicious but 250-300 does not at all seem out of line for the brass one. I like mine nearly as much as the gold ones with beautiful toning and all the qualities of the gold pieces...

Agreed, I saved the brass piece in the watch list and saw the bid retractions, weird. I think the final price was in line with the market though... ive found two in the wild the past few years, both were purchased around $250 - $275

One I passed along to a fellow member here at cost, @Nickpatton if you want the other Im open to offers!! Trades are my Favorite but I would accept fiat currency as well!!!

    Cheers

There were 3 on the BST a couple years ago. Two-Bit and JWitten got the other 2.
I think they were $50 each.
    .

That's is one sweet piece! I recently acquired a similar design, but it is not a D. Carr production. It also has a reeded edge.

I’m thinking it probably isn’t the paper, because I bought a whole page of 1964 d about a year ago……. they were probably in the page as soon as the seller got them,( the tight fit of the plastic page took all the air out of the top of the COA), and all of them looked like Dan just struck them‼️I try to protect mine as soon as I get them. A lot of people don’t ‼️

I've owned a few of Dan's pieces over the years. He makes some cool stuff. A 1932 LGF quarter would be cool, or an 1837 no stars quarter.

Quite frankly I like the toning that develops on these brass versions of the Confederate $20 piece & actually like the APPEARANCE better than either of the gold pieces...
Speaking of whom, I would imagine the 2023 Clark, Gruber pieces might show up before long.

One of my favorite of his tokens.
Nick, I know you have had some of these graded. Do you find it a bit odd that the TPG does not make a distinction between the finishes?
The earlier ones were PL and then matte. They are both beautiful but I was grading them I would include that.
Also, do you know if Dan ever mentioned how many were produced in either finish or when the process changed?

Hi BucketHead, Dan mentioned the change on them about a month after he started minting them,( can’t remember if it was on this site or his), and I haven’t heard a number on the First type, and the “matte” looking type ‼️If I were to guess,( but I don’t know), I’d say about half and half.
    They both are amazing…….. that’s why I bought more of 2nd kind‼️

Can’t hardly wait for the new ones ‼️

    Dan’s tha man ‼️‼️🎯👍👍‼️‼️‼️👀‼️‼️‼️

Thanks for the info Nick. I bought five of them and wound up with two of each and still have one unopened in the envelope that was kind of middle of the offering.
I was pleasantly surprised at the differences. I am in if he releases these for 23!

I’m so pissed off right now, I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time and bid on this last second but my WiFi stalled out on me and and my $515 bid didn’t go through. It ended up selling for less than issue price 😡🤬😤

Wow, sorry about that. IMHO this coin is one of Dan's very best even if his technology and experience have improved. The coin looks almost like a satin/matte proof. Beautiful. Keep on trying...

nk1nk… sorry about that my friend…… I’m thinking that it was yours for sure at $515‼️😱😱😱
I always use my phone to bid with and haven’t ever had a problem.
I’m one of those “last second bidders too…….. but I put my final bid in around 7 seconds…… I’ve lost bids that I’d would have won when I waited to bid at 3 seconds……. it didn’t get though too‼️😱😱😱😱😱
Hope I might have helped tellin’ on myself,( and I don’t lose any bids because of it)‼️‼️
Those are really nice…. I don’t have one either…. I’ve got the Dollar one and Dan did really great on those too ‼️‼️‼️👍
Hope you find the half dollar one soon‼️👍👍

This has happened to me often as well. Dan has mentioned a quick dip will remove this toning.

When I remember to do it, I'll remove the inserts from the slips when I receive coins to prevent this toning.

Wow, $238 is a great price for that!

I'm also a last second sniper and I've missed out on things as well.

It sucks, but don't feel so bad as another will come around. One of the items I missed out on is unique! That eBay sniping experience is still in my mind but hasn't stopped me from sniping.

    Correct.

    $725 last year, $570 the year before that. In 2020, $525; 2019, $475; 2018, $425; 2017, $465; 2016, $440; 2015, $450; 2014, $500; and finally, 2013, $450.

2023 Proof 1/4 ounce 22k gold was $765 at US Mint. Dan's 1/4 ounce is 24k. Gold spot hovers around $2,000 these days. If I was collecting up a Clark Gruber 1/4 oz date run I'd buy a 2023 too.

Bought one today and will probably pick up a few more if they remain available.

These are so cool ‼️I got these from Jeff Shevlin,( the So-Called Dollar Guy),both the inserts say “triple struck “, the copper one is…….. but actually the silver one is “quadruple struck”‼️👀‼️👍🎯‼️
The pictures show that the silver one ( circled ⭕️ in red),actual has 4 strikes, as it was struck on a Wilson as the host medal ‼️‼️👍🎯.
I’m thinking the copper is actually rarer than the silver, because most of the silver “ triple strikes” are like this one ( Wilson host medal), and none of them I’ve seen have a flip over strike on either side, like the copper one has on the reverse ‼️👍🎯‼️
    Dan’s so kool‼️‼️‼️‼️👍👍👍👀👍‼️‼️

Not happy with ICG’s last shipment,( that came back today)….. sent 7 of Dan’s 2022 silver dollars, and not one MS70 ‼️😱😱
Sent a circulated 1801 half cent, they graded it MS60… DTLS… PVC damage‼️‼️I don’t see anything wrong with it at all….,( except ICG is Krazy)‼️‼️

And my 2017 gilded Pacific Coast Expositions medal ( very rare… only 5 or six made), has no mention that it’s gilded‼️‼️‼️😱😱👍

Looks like I need to stick with ANACS from now on ‼️‼️‼️‼️

Ok, I’ll quit for a while after this one,( But it’s been so quiet lately),
    I have a question about this 1907 VDB……… Dan’s Minted Items page says that 162 were minted…… 127 high grade……and 35 bag handled ……. but my certificate says…bag handled/circulated, but it doesn’t say anything about “circulated”on Dan’s page‼️‼️

My question is, do all the bag handled certificates say , “ bag handled/circulated”, or did I stumble on a even rarer one⁉️⁉️⁉️
    Somebody has to know.‼️‼️👍👍🎯‼️‼️

Some were "bag handled" to the extent that they could be considered to be very slightly "circulated".
So both extremes were lumped together under the "bag handled" mintage.

ANACS worked directly with Dan in the past, and older ANACS holders have Dan's actual signature inside.

My inference is they are very familiar with Dan's work, far more so than any other grading company.
