What grade do you think PCGS . . . UPDATED

would give this coin if submitted now?


The very light scratch isn't noticeable with the naked eye.

I bought the coin because of the toning. I find it quite attractive.

    I am not sure, 63-64ish? I am distracted be the jaw scuff

    Looks like a 64.... The scratch will bring it down.... IMO.... Cheers, RickO

    I think the key word is NOW. Anecdotally, PCGS has really tightened up their grading standards this year. Given that you say the scratch isn't viewable without magnification I would have said 64, now I'm in the 63 camp but wouldn't be shocked to see a 62+

    I think the cheek scruffs, if on the coin and not the holder, drop in back. She has that 64 (or a little better) luster, so she probably goes at 63, shot 64

    The coin feels like an AU58, but I could see any TPG putting it into an MS62 holder. If pressed for a single grade, I would state AU58.

    Pretty coin with some flaws...MS62.

    The obverse appears to be a AU-58, the reverse looks to be MS-63 or 64. I could see any TPG putting it into an MS62 holder.

    I don't think that there is any way you are going buy that coin in an AU-58 holder. I'd go MS-62.

    60 or 61. Lots of distractions and maybe a 58 as mentioned. There’s something about the obverse that is wrong. I’m practicing grading so I’m working on the multiple questions every coin presents. Thanks 🙏

    I am torn. The scuffing on the jawline makes me want to say AU-58. But if that isn't dinged, I could see this going MS-63 based on luster and overall eye appeal.

    That scratch looks anything but light, and I really want to call it Details.

    However, based on your comment I'll give it a 63. That scratch really does have to be almost nonexistent though.

    I tend to be conservative when grading from pics since there can be issues with a coin that don't show up in the pics but that can be visible when examined in hand under a lamp. That said, I'll guess MS62.

    I would expect an MS-60 to be much more baggy than that. Beautiful coin, and undergraded.

    I think it's more than possible they net graded it for the chin scratch.

    I consider it MS60. Chin scratch. If u start it at 10 pct behind MS60 CPG on eBay will it sell? Will it even get bids? If not run it thru an auc cycle then drop the price, rinse / repeat. Blow it out and get a nice PCGS coin MS64 or higher.

    The coin looks pretty nice in the first set of images. But in the pictures showing it in the ANACS holder, its surfaces appear to have been altered. Hopefully, it’s just the imaging.

    I could see it in a 62 holder with a CAC sticker.

    It seems to me that the big scratch is part of a bunch of hairline scratches indicating either a light cleaning or slight cabinet friction or slight wear
