given how lustrous this 1925-S Mercury is, what grade would you give it vs guess the slab grade?

It doesn't appear lustrous to me, but instead dipped white. I'd go with an AU grade.

Dipped AU.

Tough for me to tell from the photos but I would guess EF45-AU55, leaning towards AU though.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Maybe a 45-50?
Agree, it's not lustrous and looks dipped.
So What is the slab grade?
Hard to tell from the pics.; since it is sort of a trick question.
The coin looks closer to XF than to unc.

Probably a 50. Not really a fan.

Due to the surface wear and hits to the obverse and reverse it would appear to be circulated and dipped with potential for EF grade.

If it grades without a cleaning, I'll go 45. I think this like your other has been messed with.
no grade most likely.

I'd guess 50. It doesn't look MS.

It has some circulation wear.

Looks like everyone is thinking what I was thinking for the most part. AU dipped.

Certainly "overdipped". Low AU based on substantial wear, most obvious on the reverse.
Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't an optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.

@mikee999 could you let us know how this graded? 24-48 hours should be plenty of time for a gtg.
