Good luck on both. Some SLH folks in the Gobrecht Journal believed that circulated 1887s (AG - EF) are the rarest circulated coins in the low-mintage series (1879-1890). However, an LSCC survey suggests the 1884 and the 1886 may be a little tougher. I've seen a few circulated 1887s with CAC.
(And guess who just received the four-volume set of the Gobrecht Journal?)

Yes, I agree. Both are tough. I have the quarters, all CAC. But the last two halves are making me work!
That's encouraging to me because your 1881 with its somewhat mottled toning looks much like my recently graded 1880. None of my raw coins submitted for TP grading have gone to CAC yet. I wouldn't know which coins to send to CAC because their grading seems so haphazard and erratic to me these days.
Here's my favorite of two 1881s. This VG10 was purchased as a CAC-stickered coin. The other (a PCGS F12), I showed earlier.
Don't think I posted this one yet. I generally don't buy the dimes, my poor eyes can barely see the details. I will buy dimes in the 1830s - 1840s. 'Partial Drapery' - XF45

Cashed in some vouchers on raw half dimes I picked up over the past year. Fresh back from grading at PCGS today. A thank you is in order for the accommodating PCGS staff at the Baltimore Whitman Show.
Slightly disappointed on the grades for the 1842 and 1856, thought they had enough in the head/shield/wreath to garner XF40's. The '56 in particular, despite a weak strike, appears to have some luster remaining. Difficult to find that year with full denticles, had to snatch it up when I saw it. I will have opportunity to upgrade those dates.
Very pleased that the '65-S straight-graded, elated with the grade, the winner of the bunch.
The TrueView does not do the '58-O, justice, looks quite good in hand. Graded appropriately at AU50.
TrueView doing wonders for the '72, cracked out of a PCGS AU-58 holder by another collector, retaining that grade on resubmission.
Some additions to the set, good turnaround time from our host, love the TrueView's, nice surprise on a Friday!
Here is an 1887 UNC dime that I feel is better than most any that I have seen except that someone tried to clean a small area on the obverse side. What a shame. Does anyone know if there is a way to help this?
1876-CC, XF40, Briggs 7-F, mintage 4,944,000. Not rare by any means but I was looking for a nice XF example of a CC quarter. Die scratch in the dentils above star 8.

I just joined to share and discuss Liberty Seated quarters. I was surprised to see this coin, which I own now. I have the entire "Dansco" set, except a 42-o sm dt instead of the 42 sm dt proof. Why Dansco chose the small date proof instead of the 42-o small date, I have no idea.
Congrats Manifest Destiny on putting together such a tough series. I have been a Seated collector for about 25 years now. I have been working with all the denominations so know a little about all and am a master of none. I will say though, even many of the so called common
date quarters are extremely hard to find attractive. Enjoy your set. James

Thanks, I agree about the "common" dates especially the 1840's Philly issues. Many of them are as scarce as the New Orleans issues. I actually had the set in a Dansco but I'm now in the process of getting everything certified (or re-certified) and started a registry set. Long term goal is nice VF coins but I'd be happy with the rare dates in 12 or 15. - Don
Don you are spot on about the Philly Quarters from the 1840's. I put a Philly quarter in XF-40
on my must get list in 2021. I just managed to get one about three weeks ago. When I mentioned how hard it is to find one of those, several people claimed it was just a current anomaly. I think they have not tried to find one in a very long time and would find their beards growing long if they pursued one. James

1839-O dimes tend to look a little grungy even in high grade, but then I found this one.
