Do you all keep the stickers on the backs of your slabs that are won from the auction houses?

I leave them alone. It's part of the provenance.

I posted this same thread a few years ago, and was told that those gluey labels are totally useless.

Remember, the TPC certification number can and will be traced back to your auction.

I've never experimented, but an auction label could become more difficult to totally remove down the road.

Any business that handles slabs will need a way to account for them in their inventory. Two options- put the slab in a sleeve and attach inventory info to that or just attach the info to the slab. The obvious choice is to attach the info to the slab since a sleeve can be separated from the slab and misplaced. That being the case, there are four places on the slab that inventory info can be attached- over the obverse of the coin, over the reverse of the coin, over the description/grade label on the front or over the TPG label on the back. Only one of these locations is going to be acceptable- guess which one. Considering this, maybe the TPG could have done a better job of designing their labels/holograms?

This happens. Labels that were recently applied can be easier to take off than ones that have been on for a long time.

CAC wants your stickers to be removed. When it comes time to sell, would you want anyone to see where you bought your coins? Rather keeping stickers, for tax reasons it's more important to keep the invoices. At the worse you be able to prove a tax loss.

I clean up every slab as soon as it arrives. Those who have stickers that have been in place for years may want to get a hair dryer to soften them before pulling on them in any way.

This sticker has been on this slab since I purchased it quite a long time ago

I remove stickers. They’re a PIA to remove if not done so immediately. If I sell the coin or show it to someone it’s none of their business where I got it and in some cases how much I paid.

I carefully peel them off and toss them right away.

I keep the invoices and my own inventory on a spread sheet.

I bought an expensive PCGS slab from (Coast to Coast, I think) major seller on eBay, and asked that they remove the label sticker before sending it to me. They did.

The early NGC slabs have the most delicate holograms. I’ll bet more than half that I see these days have damage to the hologram. 😖

I like my plastic, naked. To remove sticker residue, I soften it overnight in peanut butter. Windex helps to remove the peanut oil in the morning.
