Some Thoughts on My 1824 Half Dollar

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

I have recently been pulling some coins out that I purchased a long time ago and came across this 1824 Half Dollar.
I was looking up info on PCGS and noticed there is 4 different date comparisons for this coin.
I was also reading a few threads on the site here and came across some other details that I wasn't sure about.

Just wanted to see if I could get some answers and opinions on the coin I have.

As I stated above, there appears to be 4 different date comparisons. Mine appears to be "4 over 4" but I'm not 100% sure. Does that look correct or could it be one of the others?
When I was reading previous threads, I saw a few things saying Overton and also examples like 0-107,0-108, 0-111 etc etc. What exactly does that mean and how is that determined for each coin? Or does that even apply to my coin?
Lastly, this is an extremely nice coin ( especially for the age) but I'm pretty bad at trying to determine a possible grade on it. Would love some opinions on what some of you thought if you didn't mind. It may be tough with current picture but will get some more and update later!

I'm going to get more pictures as I'm working on taking additional photos for everything I have. I've basically been sorting some stuff to keep and stuff to possibly sell. Just haven't seen much of this stuff in a long time so trying to educate myself more as well!

Here is 2 other pictures that I took because I remember thinking the pictures above were so bright for some reason. Will def get better ones though.

I'll attempt all three;

Your coin does appear to be the 1824 over 4, sometimes shown as 1824/4.

This is considered the O-110 Die Marriage. The O stands for Overton. Al Overton wrote the definitive work (Early Half Dollar Die Varieties) on the subject of Die Marriages from the Capped Bust series, and his reference is still very much in use today.

There are a total of 450 Die Marriages for the different dates of Capped Bust, Lettered Edge Half Dollars, spanning 1807 to 1836. A Die Marriage is the "pairing" of known Obverse and Reverse Dies that struck the coin in question, and many Bust Half collectors us the annotation of either 1824/4 O-110, 24/4-110, or simply 24-110 to identify your coin.

While your coin has noticeable detail into what we consider the AU range, it has unfortunately been noticeably cleaned and will not command a straight grade (probably should be described as something like "Net XF - Cleaned / Bright").

With so much in details it should also have considerable luster which is lacking. Probably $150-$200 coin.

Thank you so much for all of the info everyone! Truly appreciate it! It was in a lot that I purchased a long time ago and was the first time I’ve looked at it in forever. Glad to know more about it now!

I would get it slabbed by our hosts even though it has been cleaned.
As noted above, it will not straight grade, a real shame.

At the top of the first page of the forum is a Resources thread. This link is there and I think it does a decent job of covering the Overton varieties. It is not an Overton book but some decent information.

PS - the photos of your coin look to have a fairly harsh light on the coin (bright in one spot).

Thanks for the comments everyone and so much info that I appreciate! Going to look over several of the links provided so I understand it more.

amwldcoin - Yeah I'm still sorting through some coins because it's been a long time since I've looked at most of them. I got several older halves in a lot from someone and this was one of them. Only way I knew to store it back then was in a safe lol
