    1839-1908 I can't think of a more daunting series to collect.....Truly the realm of Numismatic masochist! Other than Eliasberg, has anybody put the entire date and mint mark series together....I guess I should go look and see....

    There aren’t many 1854-s so probably just Eliasberg and Hansen.

    Probably 8yrs between instances and I sold the coin to John M, not John A before it went to Jon M. Lot of John’s attached to this piece with a Brian and a Steve somewhere in the mix as well.

    this coin is even better in hand. the strike is hammered. i have seen 64's with less detail than this coin

    The 10$ series is filled with so many rarities it basically suppresses the values. The number of coins with less than 100 known range in the dozens of dates/mint marks. It really makes Homerun Halls set that much more impressive.

    There are maybe 50 67s Libertys left with no known UNCs. But yet it is quite affordable if you can find one. Same with most of the S and P mint coins from around the civil war

    I worked on SF $10's for a while and have owned probably 8 different pieces. Today I only own this one which I kept because I like the iridescence which you can't really see in this picture and the overall look. It and this 1840 are the only ten Libs I still have.

    Thanks. Yeah, there was a fairly high grade 58-S on sale recently. I don't remember the actual grade but they were asking north of $20k. This series is attractive (to me) due to many dates being rather scarce and being somewhat affordable. As someone said above, The lack of interest due to scarcity keeps the price down. Funny how that works.

    Agreed, this was my favorite purchase for the year.
    I also thought so re. the D, it was actually described as a Medium D, but sold with the large D slab. Not sure how I can change this, or if i want to.

    @marcmoish here’s another misattributed medium D 1855 in a more humble grade. It has a peculiar strike through in the left obverse field that I’ve observed on a number of other medium D examples.

    Hi all, nice coins. I need a no-motto $5 for my gold type set. Any tips? Thinking an 1847 in 62 cac would fit the budget and be a nice add. I doubt ill have any other 1840's gold in my set.

    CAC website says there are 14 in the wild, who's got one for me in a pcgs holder? B)

    For those who have been collecting these for a while, what's the estimated frequency/wait time for something like that showing up? Have been sorta keeping an eye on these but not looking too hard yet.

    If it were me, I would look for a nice 1840, which is first year type and much more rare than the 43, 44, 47's which are of the most common.
