The 1891 is not a quality Morgan product and is deceptively tough in 65 and higher. I like it as an MS... likely in the 62-63 range. I like the coin

I'll guess MS64. Yes the 91 P was noted for its soft strike in general and poor luster. I like it and the heavy bag toning.

It's uncirculated. General hint for you; usually when you see color like this, it's going to be unc. AU's with color like this (bag colors) are uber rare. It's a pretty typical 91 plain strike, too. This is just how they come.

On silver, you generally don't look at high points for wear unless you see disturbance to the luster. The toning being relatively unbroken in the fields suggests this coin never circulated.
Generally with circulation, toning is the first thing to be disturbed, along with hairlines being imparted, then you start to see wear on high points, unless the toning occurred after circulation.
The one you're comparing it to has a hammered strike for the date.

My question is about the hair. Is it not rubbed off. I don’t know enough to get to deep and don’t mean to offend. I just see a problem with the hair.

Specifically where? The un-toned area? That just happens sometimes. Rubbed toning looks a lot different, it's a subtle but important distinction.

I see no variation in color on the hair or breast feathers making me think it's UNC. I'll be a contrarian and say MS 64.

Not a coin that I would be attracted to, the tone is not for me and the fingerprints kill it. I think its a technical AU but with todays market grading got an MS63 grade.

Please do not take offense but if it is straight graded as 63 in my opinion that is wrong. I have viewed many 91 P Morgans and yes they are known for an extremely weak strike but that coin shows wear and a straight grade in a 55 would even be a gift. To me the look of finger prints and honestly the toning does not look right. My opinion is problem coin.

A soft strike, common on the 91P, esp the hair around the ear and the leaves, can look like rub. Reason you cannot compare an 83-85O minted coin with the early S mintages. Agree the toning came first on this coin and not rubbed off, also believe it is uncirculated. Also not 100% sure those are fingerprints vs the mint bag leaving an 'untoned' effect. I believe what caused the 'marks' at 7:00 was the same at 5:00, and that doesn't look like fingerprints.

If muted luster, MS63. If the luster is nice, MS64.
What some are seeing as wear is probably just a weak strike. The distinction is easy in-hand. I kinda like it, but the fingerprints are tough for me to digest, on this one, anyhow.
I like it a lot. I am the proud owner of a couple nicely toned Morgan that belonged to DelewareDoons.
