That slab photo should have been used. Looks more like 63 in that one.
Slab photo was just a quick shot with my phone, doesn't really do the surfaces justice imho. Makes too many of the subtle toning breaks look like hits. Actually looks more like a two than a three in that pic to me but eh, you got the good pics already.
It's off to CAC at some point in December.

Dipping would likely have had a greater probability in creating a negative... a one sided dip (enhancement) would likely highlight weakness and marks and not improve lustre to the point where a higher grade would have been possible. 63 seems right. It is a nice coin for the date as it stands. Best of luck if you send it to CAC.

I've one-side dipped other toners like this to excellent results. I'll reaffirm the reverse should have been dipped.
The reverse luster is very subdued by haze/toning. It is likely the reason it's a 3 and not a 4.

The 1891 Morgan, in my view, ranks in the bottom quarter of the Morgan Dollar series for strike, lustre and overall quality. This is not a San Francisco product from 1879 through 1882 so an 1891 will just not have that sharpness and lustre. The key to getting the right and most appropriate grade is to allow the strengths of the coin overshadow and compensate for the weaknesses. While you think the reverse can be successfully enhanced, that still presents a risk that is just not worth taking with this coin. I think we can agree to disagree.

I think it's a 64 today. I wish whoever submitted it dipped the reverse first. The luster is somewhat subdued back there.

Grade was posted already, it's a 63
I only see two grades. AU58 or MS63, and I am leaning towards Unc. so 63
