Well that’s messed up! How can it be a wasp w/o wings, does she sting?
I met a velvet the other day and I’m pretty sure she could sting so I kept my distance

Hopefully SC does not get any at all coz I just moved here from CT - but if anything like what happened in TX earlier this year is on the cards, then might as well get prepared for wintersports.

Locals have been telling me that it has been a mild summer this year and during one of my visits in mid May it was actually 48 degrees and colder than it was in CT at that time.

Keeping fingers crossed for pleasant and great weather through out this winter

When the wifey got pregnant with our oldest she was craving the lettuce wraps from P F Changs and hot dogs from Coney Island in Worcester - so used to drive all the way just for a meal.
On my first visit to Harvard square many many moons ago, was shocked to see kids sitting with cardboard signs saying "need money for beer", "Help to get ticket for Neil Diamond Concert" etc.
Really love the MIT swimming pool and used to frequent it for the New England swimming championships of the Y during the pre-Covid times and definitely one of the rare times where I prefer to be a specatator sitting in the bleachers and enjoying watching my kids swim instead of being on the deck as an official.

Photos from this Saturday's returned annual "Gold Rush Live" event held at the site of Sutter Mill where gold was discovered in 1848. For the event a gold rush era town is recreated with period actors who remain in character.

First, here are photos of the Sutter Mill site itself and the American River waters that fed it:

Pictured here are the distant hills from where the gold originated before it was deposited into the river followed by a view looking downstream where the Sutter Mill had been positioned midway on the left bank:

Now photos, as we experienced it, of the "Gold Rush Live" event itself that is held here adjacent to the Sutter Mill site once each year:

And yes, there is still gold to be found in the waters of the South Fork American River there in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California:
