This was only my second Pokemon submission, so I'm far from an expert. I just tried using the lessons from the first one on this one. Like, PSA has little tolerance for reverse chipping on the blue backs. Now, I know to pay more attention to centering on the issues that have really thin borders.

As far as quality control, from this small sample size, I can't make an informed opinion.

One of my vintage value subs has been stuck in QA1 for about a month now. Anyone else have similar experiences lately with submissions that get past the grading phase?

All of mine have sat in QA1 for just a day or two. I know some others that have been there for a week but a month seems like a long time! Is it a big order?

I'm with Tron and Rexvos...98% of the stacks of cards I have at PSA currently are of the all-timers...Jordan, Magic, Lebron, Bird, Kobe, Shaq, Brady, Sanders, Crosby, Ovechkin, Hamm, Hawk, Hulk Hogan, etc -- I'm not overly concerned with the prices of the shiny Ja and Zion rookies dropping -- the "investors" drove those prices way too high, way too fast...it was inevitable they would come back to earth....also not hearing too much about TopShot these days...just stay the course and don't get caught up in the "questionable" frenzies..

i find this extremely funny. lebron, shaq, jordans, kobe have fallen much faster & further than zion & ja. and those two are actually starting to rebound.

talk to me in a few years...I'm not talking about today...I know you are always right tho..> @merkinmuffley said:

Overall very pleased with the outcome. It had been many years since I've sent in for grading.

3 of my orders (2 specials, 1 modern) stuck in grading. My oldest order in the system is celebrating a birthday in one week. It’ll be 1 year since it arrived at PSA. I think I will buy it a cake to celebrate. 🎂

What are you going to get for it's sixteenth birthday?

The closest I have is an order that arrived in October, logged in January, and is still in grading. I definitely do not do the OCD checking thing anymore. :D

I have 2 that went into grading over a month ago recv'd 11/20/2020 but not logged until 2/05/2021. Both Modern Value. Not expecting anything on these for a few more months. I have a Ultra Modern that was sent in the same box in Research and everything else I have out was shipped in February before the price increase and then eventual shutdown. A total of 6 subs ranging from 21 to 76 cards each. After that I am done until I get the courage to send off a few that I have been holding. I will wait until Regular opens back up for sure for my next sub.

Question: If my one card makes it to assembly, then I know it it’s at least been assigned a grade right? I wouldn’t go through the rest of the steps only to get a N9 correct?

I have 4 sitting in R&ID. Sent 2/21, Rec'd 4/21. My regular sub that was shipped with them actually took longer to be entered by a couple of days but was graded and shipped on 8/5. I've sent ~100 cards over two subs to the tuxedo company and have been very happy with grades and turnaround times. Mostly modern football and basketball released since the PSA shutdown. Some I'll hold long-term and might crack for PSA when they reopen if prices are significantly different. Some cards are closing the gap while others are still wildly high-priced in a PSA holder, presumably because the grading fee is so high and pop is still low as of now. Once the cards start flooding, I suspect things will dip pretty hard initially then stabilize. Just a guess on my part, I really don't know what to expect. I do have a ton of stuff waiting for PSA to reopen that I want for registry sets. Hoping those won't have a year turnaround but it might be that long before it opens up. Until something is announced, I'll just keep swimming.

I must admit, it definitely had the feeling of a screeching halt, when I feel like it should instead be snowballing action with orders getting into grading at the very least. In lieu of that I've watched two orders sit on assembly and/or qc2 for weeks while wondering what on earth could be slowing things down at this point. It's concerning and borderline a bit alarming because there isn't much transparency and urgency isn't exactly part of this process in my opinion. I've felt like I was missing something for awhile w all of this and I do now even more. It would be so easy to simply say...we're at 11 million and on pace for xxx per month and a forecast of yada yada. Not one bulk order that I have sitting there out of 264 has been completed...after 5 months of not taking any orders it's hard to understand let alone justify. Not but maybe 20 of those are more than 30 card orders...that are all that are the opposite of scattered in terms of years brands and so on. Then they'll argue you with you about how they can't grade a card because it's not on a checklist (regardless of how obvious the evidence that you supply defeats that notion) which is obviously absurd for many reasons

At what point does the tide turn? I can understand last year’s submissions being held up with COVID shutdowns, no restrictions on submissions, no massive hiring spree, expansion of space, etc. But at what point do the actions taken over the last 4-5 months start to bear fruit? I have a value modern order that’s been in R&ID for 4.5 months. Assuming it doesn’t move to grading for another month (or two? Three?) spends a month or two in grading, etc, it’s 2022 before anything is returned. In other words, pushing a year and similar to the time frames that those of you approaching a “birthday” now face. I guess I’m struggling to see the “progress.”

It seems like their efforts are not progressing at the same rate as the insane flood of orders they received. I’m not even sure if they have caught up to the peak point of orders yet.

I like to think those of us at the 1 year or longer waiting point must be getting somewhat close at least. It feels like our cards are serving some kind of prison sentence, and we’re waiting for them to finally be released.

I am involved in a vintage order that is R&ID for over 8 months so it could be a while. I do think most are not sitting in r&id that long however.

Are mech errors handled the same as a standard grading order? I have two small mech errors at PSA since December. They are categorized as "Value <5k".

w 88 slus, i shoot for 8s and 9s. those things are so dayum hard to find that are even worth cracking outta the packaging that i never expect or have even landed a 10. of anybody. then getting them out safely is a while other mountain to tackle.

but, i was switching gears and was scooping up ‘88 basketball slus at the time of this sub. it was crazy you could still get 88 jordan slus for under $60. but i remember this one. i needed 2 cards to fillout a 100 card sub. this one just arrived. so popped it open and snagged a “color match” green giannis that i was pretty sure had no chance at a 10. woulda been stoked just for a 9 on the jordan. have another slu only sub w bird, magic, pippen and some of the more obscure players but self subbed at the $10 level. will be a while, im sure. was just thinking w how rare 88 fleer basketball is compared to fleer baseball and then how rare 88 slus are in relativity to 88 fleer basketball, jordan cards at $60 were a no brainer.

had a few myself. just writing them off (not really) as new grader training lessons. things have been progressively getting better. still no where near where they were as a whole. but that may be a good thing in the long term. i have stacks of cards i still wont send in until i see consistent results. past two subs have been good. however, still have a good share of gut punches and head scratchers that popped too.

I have seen so many examples of bent up bottom corners being posting. shouldn't the first thing they teach you when you go to PSA is how to take a card in and out of a card saver . my goodness, so depressing

have had more in the last 3 months than i've had in the previous 13 years.

Yes, this appears to be accurate and very concerning. Sending in high value stuff for review, reholder or crossover is downright nerve wracking. I sent in a high end 7 for reholder as the top of the holder had a hair line crack on the top from crappy shipping. Card was great and totally fine. Received the card back with the corner creased not bent and in a new PSA 7 holder. I was simply stunned. Has completely scared me from sending high value stuff in.

I’m curious what recourse you get on this

I was paid the difference between the 5 and 7 grade which came to be . I wanted a little more; but they would not budge.> @bobbybakeriv said:

QA2 this morning; I’m kind of nervous at how fast this has gone through; the CTD I thought on express was still in July.

I would still LOVE if this got an 8! I just hope that the centering and corners can at least get it to an 8.5, if not a 9, barring I’ve not missed any microscopic wrinkles or something. I just hope I don’t get bamboozled with a 3,4, or 5 or something 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I mailed a card on Saturday and it is in QA2 today. This is an express order. I will keep everyone posted for when the card is shipped.

    Same; still in QA2 on my express;
My 79 card vintage sub also hit QA2 Today! Sweating now over 2 orders!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

    79 card vintage popped today.
It will be interesting to see these cards come back and compare them pre-sub to post-sub. Condition-wise these were all solid cards; I expected a few of these grades but not much.
One 9 and a few 8’s. Almost all cards came back at least 2 grades lower than what I expected. The biggest 1-2 punch was the N8 Clemente and the PSA 5 Gibson all stars. Seriously, those 2 cards were absolute 🔥🔥.
One week shy of a 13-month wait..
I feel sick to my stomach.

Here’s the Clemente I submitted; is this really Miscut? It possible the graded thought the back of the card is miscut?

  • N8 miscut would be it isn’t square. If he thought the back was miscut it would have got a 5.

I feel your pain. That sucks. I am going to say the condition hasn't changed. You just got the grader who thinks the card is in terrible shape because it was produced before 2020 :(

That sucks, looks good to me and nothing that would deem it to be miscut. Took a look at a recent PSA 9 sale and the back looks the same with an identical amount of the bat showing on the edge.

I get that; only problem is, is I don’t see how it isn’t square.

Boy it sure feels that way. 13 months is way too long to be sitting there. Who knows what’s happened in the mean time.

Still love PSA; I know I’m not always going to get the grades I want, but saying this card is miscut is a farce. How many cards have been graded 8 or higher with horribly tilted images, etc?

Eh I can see it being Miscut
Top left corner looks wonky and not 90 degrees.
Just my opinion and I am not a expert.
