This was the "end" of a slew of Regulars. All the rest have been back for weeks.
If yours has been sitting there a while I'd inquire into it. Email the info@pascard.com address
No reason for a 4/9 entered sub to sit there unless some slabs require scanning- which is WAY behind.
Not sure I understand the "batch FIFO" plan PSA talks about, but I had 2 Quarterly specials go to Assembly yesterday. One entered on 09/02/20, and the other was 01/13/21. Those batches must be monsters.

Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.

Wow, that’s quite a spread. I had a quarterly special entered after yours on 9/15/20 that completed back on 07/07/21. I have two others entered 11/30/20 and 12/01/20 that are still grading. Their operations are quite a mystery.
Havent been on here much because my last two Subs that PSA had didnt look like they were coming out anytime soon. My most recent one I submitted before the shutdown in March was a 6 card Regular Service that arrived 3/11 and wasnt entered until 5/11.
Just by chance the other day I glanced at my account and was shocked to see the 6 Card Regular Sub was in QA2 stage - have no clue as to when it went througha s I wasnt expecting to get them until at earliest end of August.
Well a few minutes ago I get "that email" that stated one of my sub required an upcharge due to one of the cards graded put at a higher level of service. I took a look and replied instantly!
My Sub:
1990 Marvel Universe
Captain America # 1 - PSA 10
Hulk # 3 - PSA 6 Spiderman # 29 - PSA 10
Doctor Strange # 34 - PSA 10
1992 Marvel Masterpieces
Wolverine # 94 - PSA 9
1991 Marvel Universe
Venom - PSA 8
The Spidey # 29 was the only one getting an upcharge and I am definately okay with it as well as the entire sub. Ill have to take a look at the Hulk, for some reason Im missing something on the scans and screening
Anyways its definately nice to expect a sub back soon - that leaves me with a 30 Modern Sub that is in Grading and was Entered in October of last year

Explain upcharge and higher level of service. I am not sure what that means. Thanks
After grading the card was deemed more valuable than the maximum declared value of the level of service you selected, therefore PSA is charging you the rate for the service level which the graded value is deemed to be in.
Example: You sent a card with the maximum declared value of $499 at the value level, but it graded a 10 and 10's currently selling for $2500, PSA at their discretion decides to upcharge you to the Express level fee.
100 card value that i had enter on 11/3/20 has just went into QA1 on 7/30/21. I was in assembly for a few weeks so I am unsure I will be stuck here.

should be pretty quick if so, rob. not sure how much the national will put a kink in the chain, but all of my subs that sit in assembly for weeks breeze thru the qas. unless upcharges occur. ones that breeze thru assembly always seem to get stuck in qa2 for a lengthier time.
Welcome to the boards Czone. How were the grades? What you expected? How long did it take when they moved to grading? I have a quarterly special that was sent in early December and entered 2 months later moved to grading last week. Much earlier than I expected.
Hi Shawther, thanks for the greeting and thanks to you and everyone on here that so generously shares information. I started collecting in 1968 but have not been active since 2010 until Covid. I have a lot of catching up to do.
My order sat in Grading for several months. As far as the grades, Apparently I forgot how to grade in the last several months. It was embarrassingly bad. I've never had anything like it. I'm looking forward to receiving the cards back and see if I was drinking during my submission or if I just had bad luck on my grader(s). Most everything was one full grade below expectations.
Best grade was a 1988 Fleer Jordan All Star graded 9. A better example would be my 9 1988 Fleer Rodmans where I received 4 8s, 3 7s, a 6 and a 5. My 7 1978 Bernard Kings were worse: 1 7, 1 6 and 5 5s.
I don't pretend to be a good grader but I never missed so bad on any previous submissions. Hope you guys do better!
I have a couple submissions of the 88 Fleer set as well. I know that centering and fish eyes are a big issue with the set. I divided up those into 2 different subs. Expecting 8’s and 9’s and hopefully a couple 10’s on the one submission. Expecting grades of 7 though 10 on the other with most of the non rookies being in the 9 range. I am curious to what you think when you get them in hand.
1 1 57200732 1981 Topps 4 Larry Bird NEAR MINT 7 - Auto Grade: MINT 9
notes: a bit absurd on every stage. regular service. 1.25 months to log. 5 months to grade. had card pegged at an 8 minimum. but the 6+ month process on a regular service level just to get kicked square in the (blank) is literally the kicker. hopefully this one gets lost in the mail too.

I’m pretty sure having collected for so long that you didn’t suddenly forget how to grade. There have just been too many cases from people on here of getting worse grades than they used to receive. PSA seems to be really tough on grades now. It doesn’t even make sense to me why they would go that direction. It not only results in fewer chances to up charge, but people are not going to want to grade as many cards if they are going to get disappointing grades returned. PSA just needs to be realistic with their grading and more importantly be consistent with how they’ve graded in the past.
I just had an express grade pop and tracking hit (tracking not active)...how long does it normally take the certification link to be active? Would have thought this would be a go once it hit shipping....only been a couple of hours, but just checking to make sure I don't have to go back through PSA if they didn't properly assign it in the database with pics. TIA

Took my most recent sub a few days, maybe a week since I stopped checking after a few days. But they are showing now and they shipped Jul 23.
By comparison, SGC 15 card regular sub sent 7/15. entered 7/21, post-grade-processing today (8/3). Should see grades tonight or tomorrow. It's a small sample of 2020 select & mosaic Herbert/Burrow/Tua type stuff. Nothing high end. A couple with minor flaws I wanted to see how they would grade some flaws ie (small dent on back or front, minor surface scratch/lines common to the issues). I'm expecting ~10 gems and the rest 8-9's but really don't know how they downgrade for the flaws so it was $30 for each one to get the education.
I completely understand long durations from loggage date until they start working on the research stage, and I can be OK with long waits for research too. However, I don't understand why once they seem to be actively working on an order, why the grading stage takes as long as it does. I am specifically referencing an example of one of my pending orders, which is comprised of a grand total of two cards (a higher pricing tier sub). The order has been in the grading stage for a few months now, which makes no sense to me.

Yes, I'd be curious how long it actually takes them to grade each card during the several month period when it shows your order in grading.
@marshallfaulk28@miwlvrn - I suspect "Grading" is just a placeholder for "we have identified your card and it is either waiting to be graded, is being graded or has been graded but is waiting to move to Assembly". The act of actually grading the card is probably a couple of minutes. Problem is, you're #2,047,219 in line. Please wait your turn.

Makes total sense, I am pretty sure there are many orders out there that have been in "grading" for up to 6 months at this point. the longest one I am personally involved with is at 4 months in the grading room
heck i got stuff thats been there since 10/12/20, logged since 1/12/21 and still hasnt even sniffed the grading phase! 7+ months to research ultra modern? and who we fooling, 10+ months really. and not even in grading?

Wow, that is really slow. I have a modern bundle tracking very similarly to yours. Arrived on 10/14, logged on 1/14, but grading started on 6/15. My order size is half of yours, but I would think yours should have reached grading by now.

scary thing is i have a quite a few that are like this. none of these have entered grading,..even the ones that arrived 2 weeks prior to the one above:
this is just whats logged in the month of january, no need to even bring up february's orders considering…

Wow, that's a lot of orders and cards! They need to assign a dedicated grader to you. Hope at least one of these pops for you soon.

I'm well accustomed to the long wait and know very well to accept it rather than expect sooner results. My orders sent in during June 2020 just popped a couple weeks ago, which seems pretty standard, and I'm hoping to see some movement on my orders that were subbed between July - October 2020 sooner than later. I'm questioning the nomenclature choice of 'grading' for a place holder stage, rather than the actual duration it takes them to grade the items. To call that time period grading seems inaccurate or disingenuous. But I of course realize that it has nothing to do with the actual wait time.
@miwlvrn - It certainly feels a bit misleading. In the good ol' days, we didn't have any kind of "pizza tracker" so I appreciate that. It is frustrating now though because now you have insight into a current status but it has zero correlation to a time context.

Ballpark figure..... How many cards right now in backlog? Still 2 million or 3?
It may be more appropriate to ask if is down below 5 million. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s closer to 6.
Did we ever get a company-line on what the backlog was? I had heard 8mil, 10mil, 13mil but no idea if any of those numbers were official company numbers or just speculation. We can see they are grading 150-190k cards per week and I believe there was a comment in one of the updates they were receiving 3x as many cards as they could grade per day. So, I think you're right, it has to still be several million deep still.
What problems would result if PSA was attacked by RANSOMWARE? do they have a back-up system? How much would they pay and would our prices go up? Just a thought.

@lilmule somebody has good eye for 88 Leafs some nice hits there
Nice sub !
Hope everyone is enjoying the Summer
Hulk # 3 - PSA 6
Spiderman # 29 - PSA 10
Doctor Strange # 34 - PSA 10
1992 Marvel Masterpieces
Wolverine # 94 - PSA 9
1991 Marvel Universe
Venom - PSA 8
The Spidey # 29 was the only one getting an upcharge and I am definately okay with it as well as the entire sub. Ill have to take a look at the Hulk, for some reason Im missing something on the scans and screening
Anyways its definately nice to expect a sub back soon - that leaves me with a 30 Modern Sub that is in Grading and was Entered in October of last year
Enjoy the weekend!
Explain upcharge and higher level of service. I am not sure what that means. Thanks
After grading the card was deemed more valuable than the maximum declared value of the level of service you selected, therefore PSA is charging you the rate for the service level which the graded value is deemed to be in.
Example: You sent a card with the maximum declared value of $499 at the value level, but it graded a 10 and 10's currently selling for $2500, PSA at their discretion decides to upcharge you to the Express level fee.
not finished but had some pack movement…
‘72 - present
arrived: 1/20/21
entered: 2/02/21
assembly: 7/30/21
100 card value that i had enter on 11/3/20 has just went into QA1 on 7/30/21. I was in assembly for a few weeks so I am unsure I will be stuck here.
Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
should be pretty quick if so, rob. not sure how much the national will put a kink in the chain, but all of my subs that sit in assembly for weeks breeze thru the qas. unless upcharges occur. ones that breeze thru assembly always seem to get stuck in qa2 for a lengthier time.
71 Card Value 2 Modern entered on 11/02 has shipped after sitting in assembly for about a week.
Welcome to the boards Czone. How were the grades? What you expected? How long did it take when they moved to grading? I have a quarterly special that was sent in early December and entered 2 months later moved to grading last week. Much earlier than I expected.
Where these recent pack or set pulls or cards you had for years ?
These were pulled from some unopened boxes that my son and I have acquired over time and just decided to open them.

notes: a bit absurd on every stage. regular service.
TIA
FYI to the above post...$200 express service. Received 7/16, grade popped 8/3
Took my most recent sub a few days, maybe a week since I stopped checking after a few days. But they are showing now and they shipped Jul 23.
Regular after price increase.

great timing around ohtani. if he can get anywhere near the 62 mark, things will get crazier than what happened leading up to the all star game.
Thanks blurry. The guy is fun to watch. I’m way over exposed on Ohtani right now. I need to decide on just one or two to hold.
cant blame ya there. with the lack of run support and previous arm injuries, i would hold batting cards vs pitching cards.
7 card regular sub.

@marshallfaulk28 @miwlvrn - I suspect "Grading" is just a placeholder for "we have identified your card and it is either waiting to be graded, is being graded or has been graded but is waiting to move to Assembly".
Ballpark figure..... How many cards right now in backlog? Still 2 million or 3?
scary thing is i have a quite a few that are like this. none of these have entered grading,..even the ones that arrived 2 weeks prior to the one above:
this is just whats logged in the month of january, no need to even bring up february's orders considering…
Wow, that's a lot of orders and cards! They need to assign a dedicated grader to you. Hope at least one of these pops for you soon.
What does "Deal" service level mean?
im assuming its short for “whats the deal? why is this taking so long?”. 😉
just went ohtani searching through my open subs. still not entered, but these were very nice surprises. hopefully he stays healthy! i doubt i can just recall the 1/1 cyan plate. would love to have that in hand right about now…
All those are nice ohtani’s I want one of the 700 golds. He looked good pitching last night.
Enhanced 'pizza tracker' for my recent Value Modern, 125 card, 311 day submission. Red dots indicate the day activity likely happened ...
What problems would result if PSA was attacked by RANSOMWARE? do they have a back-up system? How much would they pay and would our prices go up? Just a thought.
i feel my cards are being held for ransom. after nearly a year, i havent even gotten proof of life yet! 😉
