Obviously an incredible set of halves, but the 1901-O is my favorite of the bunch. The eye appeal of the peripheral toning is right up my alley. I only have one Barber half for my type set, it's this one in PCGS PR62 —

Seriously, though, your coins are absolutely outstanding and illustrate a depth of commitment to the series that most folks would not be willing to undertake. Also, for those unaware, the 1907-S may not be a glamorous coin for those who do not collect the series, but it is a true beast of a foe to find attractive and in high grade.

I'm not surprised you had to pay up for an AU58 1907-S. The coins just don't exist in meaningful numbers, in my experience.

My oh my. I'd have to go with the 1901-0 MS-66, if I had to chose just one. Incredible half dollars...

I realize I keep bringing this thread up to the top, but the coins are too freakingly awesome cool not to do so! If I had to choose it would be between the 1907-D, which knocks me on my butt and looms over me daring me to get back up vs. the 1892, which freezes me like a deer in the headlights. I'd go with the 1907-D.

@TomB Thanks Big Guy. Well, you have good taste. The 1907-d, is the former Duckor, Friend coin, and it's a beautiful specimen....A common date in uncommon condition. The 1892, is possibly one of the finest MS Barber halves in existence. The luster on that coin is so intense, it's hard to describe. I've never seen anything like it. The 1907-s, and the 1901-o are a couple of my favs, and extremely difficult coins as you mention....very rare in higher mint state.

All very attractive. I've never quite understood why so many people have negative opinions about the Barber series. I like them!

You have to add to the conversation that I think it is harder to find an attractive Unc. Barber Half than in virtually any other copper, nickel or silver coin series.

Years ago, I saw the top three registry sets of Barber Halves. I think Duckor's was the most aesthetically pleasing for the grades shown. Might add that the nicest coins I saw in his registry set were acquired from Dale Friend.

You got that right. They were the workhorse coin in their day. They are a challenge in the higher grades.

Wow... there's some eye candy you don't see every day. If pressed, I think I like the 07-S the best. I prefer the understated toning and this is one bear of a date to find in higher grades.

I'd love to be able to contribute, but I don't have any MS Barbers, and me posting my lowly xf45 would only detract...

Of the ones you posted, I love the look of the 07-D. It looks like a luster bomb. They're all pretty darn nice though.

Here's my sole contribution to the thread, acquired for my 20th Century type set. It is apparently from the Hugon collection, with which I am not terribly familiar. It was auctioned in an OGH in April 2020 and some insufficiently thoughtful person apparently cracked it out or had it regraded. I acquired it after that, PCGS pop 3/2:

But man, it's tough to compare to the one I was waiting for, which was just posted ahead of my comment.

When I opened the thread, I thought it would be great to see that killer 05-O @BryceM bought again. Honestly, probably one of the top 5 I have seen pictures of ... and quite possibly my favorite.

@BryceM - fantastic coin! The 05O was tough to find even in upper circ grades back when I used to hunt Barbers (along with many dates, of course). But that date always stands out when I see one.

I bought this quarter out of the Gene Gardner collection. It was one of his favorites as it was on the cover of his custom printed Barber Quarter book. It currently resides in the RSD collection.

@UltraHighRelief That 1896 is well known to me and is one of the best Barber quarters I've ever seen. A worthy coin in the RSD collection for sure. Wish it was mine! Thanks for posting!
