I recognize this coin as an 1868 V-2 MS-67 which has had several auction appearances back at least to 2007.1 -

It's rare to find dates like 1859-S and 1861-S uncertified, without obvious problems that would prevent a straight grade. Most of the nice ones have been submitted long ago. Here are my 1861-S in PCGS F15 and 1859-S in PCGS VF35 for comparison.

Just back from the grading room. This 1842-P is a Medium Date but the tougher WB-106. Thought it would get an assigned grade of low-end AU but our hosts gave it an XF45:
I really like the coin aesthetics. Do you agree? WB-106 typically has reverse die cracks like what you see. R5 in XF/AU.

I have always appreciated how Seated coins hold there design as they wear. Even some minor elements hold up into the VF range. And a nice XF45 as the coins above are really spectacular! Congrats to the owners.

Sat in a paper, flap-fold small coin envelope for at least a couple of decades... I would have pulled it out sooner and put it into something more inert. Interesting none the less: 1861-P dime in low-end uncirculated.
Estimate about an MS-62...
