It's rare to find dates like 1859-S and 1861-S uncertified, without obvious problems that would prevent a straight grade. Most of the nice ones have been submitted long ago. Here are my 1861-S in PCGS F15 and 1859-S in PCGS VF35 for comparison.
Do not fall into the error of the artisan who boasts of twenty years experience in his craft while in fact he has had only one year of experience... twenty times.
Just back from the grading room. This 1842-P is a Medium Date but the tougher WB-106. Thought it would get an assigned grade of low-end AU but our hosts gave it an XF45:
I really like the coin aesthetics. Do you agree? WB-106 typically has reverse die cracks like what you see. R5 in XF/AU.
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I have always appreciated how Seated coins hold there design as they wear. Even some minor elements hold up into the VF range. And a nice XF45 as the coins above are really spectacular! Congrats to the owners.
Sat in a paper, flap-fold small coin envelope for at least a couple of decades... I would have pulled it out sooner and put it into something more inert. Interesting none the less: 1861-P dime in low-end uncirculated.
Estimate about an MS-62...

@Snaps here is a bigger brother '53 in response to yours that recently came back from the graders. In my opinion, a good looker, wholesome and pleasing in PC25.
Great coins Lenny, thanks for posting.

Still looks good, 6 days later.
I recognize this coin as an 1868 V-2 MS-67 which has had several auction appearances back at least to 2007.
Ummm - that is way too cool to post and brag about.

This one is in my pile to send in to the house for an opinion and a plastic tomb.
Nice 1861-S. F15 or VF20 from here. Difficult date to find with CAC approval.
Thanks, a VF on that one would be nice.
This 59s certainly has enough detail to make the grade. It’s going with it’s sister.

One of my all time favorites. I have probably posted it to this thread years back, but here it is again.
These were the best of the best now sold:
This one I bought raw from Monarch coin in Salt Lake City. A real beaut.

This pretty half dime is from the V-2 die pair, because of the extremely low O,
and the vertical die line in the base below the rock!
Yosclimber - I always appreciate your input and the education. Thanks!
