Post your "Stay at Home Projects", Numismatic and Otherwise

Many of us have found some extra time now available to catch up on an old project or to come up with a new project or two. One that I am working on was inspired by a photogenic covered bridge that I encountered years ago. Since then I have made it a point to look for and capture unique bridges with my camera.
The present project has been to go back and select from those photos to put together a bridge themed photo book. I note from the postings on this board, that photographing the things we collect or otherwise have an interest in allows us to share and enjoy them whether it be coins or anything else.
In any event, here is the project in progress:

Beautiful work @1northcoin .
My current project is less artistic but therapeutic none the less.

I have an uncle who kept bonsai trees back when I was younger so I got involved with it in high school. I just got re-involved with it. Here is a Japanese Boxwood I found at the nursery that I chopped, wired and repotted last night. I’ll give you all an update in a year or so. As I remember it’s a slooooow process and hobby.
I've busy doing everything but the coinage
Painting and decorating my finished library

Lol. My project is similar. Had two of my trees cut down recently (dead), getting a workout trimming the logs. Sharing with my neighbor's fireplace and my firepit.

Almost 2 Months, and now 5 Months...
Nature photography and studio photography of my two kids. I hope to get back to sports soon, just like anyone, but thankfully I enjoy all types of photography.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Yes. I was there twice last year. In the Spring when the Sakura were in bloom and again in the Fall when the leaves were turning color. On the most recent visit though the Torii Gate was shrouded for repairs and/or replacement. With the sea water attacking it as the tides ebb in and out it has to be replaced over time.
The original shrine is believed to have been erected in 593 AD. The O-torii gate (O meaning large) was evidently in existence by 1325 as it was destroyed by a typhoon in that year. In 1717 the reconstructed O-torii gate collapsed and after being reconstructed was destroyed by another typhoon in 1850.
Here are some added views from Miyajima Island and its O-Torii Gate:
Beautiful pictures....No major projects here, and things seem to be opening up finally (next week)...I do admire the excellent photography though...Cheers, RickO
Just enjoying this time with my wife.
Wish I felt safe enough to take her on a beach vacation.
I'm going to set up our above ground pool. Blue tarp in back ground.
A friend just suggested another themed subject - Fallen Trees.
Here are a few I just located, most of which I have taken on the hiking trails near where I live. In fact the first is just a few blocks away from a month or two ago.
That's a lot of beavers but it looks like you have room for many more!
Shed expansion in progress

Nice cannon for protection!
No pics, but my wife started a dollhouse and needed the pro at building model houses to finish it. Just finished putting a shake roof on it.
These are my little model houses, am waiting for some more houses for my Russian neighbourhood to arrive from the motherland
Working on a cure for the panic virus. Throwing off the mask and going to the beach provided temporary relief.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
Nothing really changed for me. office closed, work from home, about 3-4 hours more a day. Everything else is the same. go stand in line with a group of bank robbers about half the time and they seem to stare at me if I get too close. Went to a car cruise, about 200 cars showed up. Everyone was real tired of martial law, and it showed.
Something to keep the kids busy and outside
When I'm not building trucks, Navistar aka IH, I'm outdoors in some form. Decided my Gorilla Cart made me work too hard so I made conversion pieces to turn it into a fishing cart for better times.

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
Trying to decipher this ...!!!
I have been buying coins of the Roman emperors and writing a “bullet book” for them to help me learn their history.
I know it’s the wrong forum, but here an antoninianus of Gordian III who ruled from 238 to 244. He became emperor at age 13. He was dead by age 19, murdered of course. It was hardly surprise. Just about every Roman emperor who ruled from 193 to the end of the end of third century was murdered or assassinated.
Gordian III was a very rich young man. So why did he want the job? I guess he was looking to go down in history. This coin is common and cost less than $100.
I hoping my lawn will be the envy of the neighborhood. Just seeded it last week

A lot of interesting diversions from numismatics, I like it.
Here's one of mine, practical, and needed.
Sugar magnolia blossoms blooming, heads all empty and I don't care ...
I lost my Gazibo to the snow gods this winter while I was in Colorado this January. So I ordered a new one this time with a solid metal roof to battle the winter snow. Since I am still working I took advantage of the weekend. Made sure I had the proper ladders and slowly put her up.
Looks like my neck of the woods near Gainesville.
Ok Girls & Guys...

eat your heart pout...... enjoy!!!
I baked my cake and ate it too.
also made one with BlueBerries
My neighbors in the back and I have talked about putting up a fence for a while. We did this over the weekend.
Vast improvement for my yard. I'm sure once they clean up theirs, they'll feel the same

Nice not having to see the mess next door.
Since my project for my model railroad is sitting in some customs warehouse I am helping my wife build her dollhouse.
Repainted and installed marble in the dining room. I started and then Covid hit and it shut the tile store down. Just finishing up now. I wanted an air register in cherry to match the trim of the room but could not find one at HD so I just decided to make one.
I just found this photo that I took last fall of Miyajima Island's O-torii gate shrouded for repairs and/or replacement.
Bought a new house and moved for the first time in nearly 25 years. Three weeks of brutal sifting, tossing, donating, selling, boxing, and moving.
But it was (almost) all worth it for what we got to move into:
5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3-car attached garage. About 5,000 sq ft on just under a half-acre.

@Weiss Very nice! And everything is fresh and new. Well done!

Hope my neighbors don't mind this for a few days until I push it into the garage. Have a 5.3L going in.

Nice house Weiss. Looks beautiful!!
Nice.
Weiss is it just me or do the finishes you do on your rentals look better? Maybe it's you transforming a mess into a masterpiece that makes it pop?
I know you're stuck with what the builder offers.
Weird situation with this home: It was built in 2014 for a couple that was apparently on the rocks. The house pushed them over the edge. They never really lived in it, so it never had any changes from the builder. She was in it off and on for the last 3 years. Not a single picture hung on the walls. So what you see is what we got.
We've already started making changes. It's going to be pretty radical :

@Weiss Nice House! I prefer a bit of a trade off to have nice land around me! 1500ft. of river front here! About the same in road frontage and you can't see my house from the road. When I hit the lottery I will have both if I can muster up the desire to move from here.
First 10 of 23 to be installed. Need to feed my electric car and say FU to big oil.

Finally took some time to re-plant a succulent garden that was destroyed by a chicken. There's plastic netting under the cinder to prevent them from being dug up. I also added some other plants for variety. Plants are another addiction of mine.

I've had a few fun quarantine projects:

The old man who lived in our house before us was a WW2 veteran, and had an old WW2 USMC Ka-Bar knife that he weeded his garden with. He left it when he moved, so I've also used it to dig dandelions the last 7 years. The handle was missing, it was rusted out, and the sharp tip was worn completely smooth. I decided to finally try fixing it up. I removed the rust, grinded a new tip, filed and sanded the blade, and added (and shaped) a new leather handle. Not perfect, but at least it looks like a knife again!
I also made a few walnut grips for my 22 revolver. I bought this when Covid hit, and it was just a cheap 22 with an ugly redwood handle. The first one was made from walnut from wife's family farm in TN, second was made from walnut from my Dad's childhood farm in KY.

I hit the hills down south from me for some deeply dug paydirt and brought a bunch home for a little back porch panning. Nothing much so far, just some very fine stuff. It's a quiet pastime panning for gold. I thrown on some tunes, grab a beer and spend a little time looking for the heavy yellow stuff we all love so much.

Amazed at the multi talented members on this forum. Thanks to all for sharing,
Wife has got my doing a stone arch project.

^ Now comes the hard part. The arch cuts are tough.
I will be interested to see how small the pieces are inside the arch.
Post pics when complete.
Many cool projects and I love the Japan photos! I really would like to go back for a proper visit someday (and see the money museum in Tokyo I some how missed in all the years I was there).
My project has been a bit more modest. But the best part is I'm actually using it!
My job ends in June (my idea, not theirs, I put in notice back at the end of February) and I'm calling myself retired. Time will tell if I stay that way
I can't remember what I planned as my retirement treat, and honestly, I've been straying from wanting more coins. Probably due to the retirement upheaval. Well, as March rolled in I saw the writing on the wall for my YMCA membership and decided to do something about it. Starting with a formerly outdoor porch that had been turned into a sunroom at our house long before we moved in.
Hubs clearly thought I was nuts and I pretty much did everything myself. Roped my eldest into helping me move the more awkward things around.
So, here are some older pictures to give an idea of what it looked like. The yellow couch had actually been moved into the living room again, and oddly, I moved it right back out to make room for the chairs (we had 4 out there as seating, plus extra tables). And dog beds. Always dog beds.
This dog passed away a year and a half ago. This couch is now back in the same spot (and even with the same silly USNS Comfort throw and black kitty pillow).

Looking the other way, with the other doggo too--obviously not done at the same time as the first dog was in both shots.
Moved almost everything out, and cleaned everything up.
Found some old dumb bells in the basement. Shopped for more online and literally saw them melting out of my Amazon cart. Nabbed the 8# ones, and one each of 10, 12# before they were all gone, so a pair of 5,7,8,10 (had one already) and a solitary 12# thanks to basement finds. Was also glad to find the rack (one that had escaped price inflation--half the cost of identical pieces).
Homer demonstrating his version of Down Dog. By this time I had some freebie app trials for some HIIT and yoga exercise. Good, but not quite enough.
Still pending more weights at this point. Plus a couple weighted balls. No kettlebells to be found on the internet. Even resistance bands hard to find. My TRX set up would come in handy, but the doors are just not that substantial for this room.
More weights arrived (almost reasonable in price) but who knew they could break in transit like that??!! The broken one was replaced, and now the full, if mismatched, set from 5-15#. Glad I found so many in the basement!

wow!
But the real gift! Schwinn IC4 spin cycle. Great quality, and an open ecosystem. It took about a month to arrive, but soooo worth it.
Needs assembly:

The main part did come with this much done. Glad I didn't waste money on the in-home assembly option (not that they were doing it inside your house at this point).
Ta da! It came with 3# weights. I have no idea what to use them for.
Now I'm missing the resistance bands (will be here Monday), one of the weighted balls, and I'm still trying to figure out a way to do my TRX here. I will probably have to hook that over the front door, or just wait until the Y opens up fully.
I have been using a bunch of free trials to find good fitness apps and found many for spin, yoga, 'boot camp', HIIT, etc. Peloton, Les Mills, Studio Sweat on Demand are great options if anyone is looking (I went with SSoD).
This shot also doesn't show the mat that is under the cycle now.

My helpers. I'm sitting on that same yellow couch. It's a good place to sit to swap shoes.

Not coin related, but using coin budget money I suppose. And, if I can't really remember what I was GOING to buy, well I guess it wasn't that important. Besides, being healthy means more time for coins eventually!
these two have kept me and Mr. Bill pretty busy, but I have managed to get some other household and outdoor projects completed.
