I'll reply! I think it's against PCGS's best interests! I certainly hope you don't start awarding points for CAC stickers or I'm done with the registry sets. I know many people adore CAC stickers but there are just as many who don't!
Is the PCGS registry basically working as a hosting platform for a CAC registry of PCGS certified coins in this case, or is CAC-iness going to be part of the normal PCGS registry sets, too?

PCGS/CAC sets will remain entirely separate from existing PCGS Set Registry sets and no delineation will be made to recognize CAC in current non-PCGS/CAC sets or composites.
While I believe that CAC deserves some level of preferential treatment in registry sets, I do not believe this is the way to go for a multitude of reasons.

May I ask,,,,,, what about QA Check coins for the Moderns?
Then we could have sets with the possibility to get stickered coins in every slot and Modern Sets with QA stickers.

Hmmmmm. I don't like it. To be clear, I'm a fan of both brands. All of my collection is PCGS and the majority of my collection sports green and gold stickers, but I don't think I have a single registry set (now or ever) that is/was exclusively stickered. Most of my series are type sets that contain coins that they won't evaluate (Jeff Nickels, Rosies, Kennedys, etc). I also have a number of coins that are properly graded, but not "worthy" for a variety of reasons. It also dilutes the importance of the existing registry categories tremendously.
It won't do anything positive for coins that don't have a sticker. I guess all of these are just dreck now. Two of the three were recommended to me by a former CAC grader, but ultimately denied the grace of a sticker:
I say it is nice for PCGS to provide the option for those who have them and like them.
Thankfully, they do not CAC modern 70's or I would have 2,000+ PCGS slabs that would need to be sent there for a sticker and it would be total game over for me.
I don’t play the registry game so I don’t care either way. But no matter how you slice it... it’s a win for collectors... Another added benefit that people can enjoy. If you don’t like it don’t use it. The market has spoken and CAC coins show no signs of slowing down or going away. I think PCGS is just publicly recognizing what the market already knows. Will this negatively affect non CAC coins.... I’d say no. The market has already punished non CAC coins...
Well, I used to be an Olympic Class Triathlon competitor, but in this race, I can't even swim in this pool with floaties, and my running shoes must have come from a drug dealer, as they are laced with something that makes me be trippin. No pedal down on this segment for me.
Im not a registry participant as I don't really espouse defined set building but I welcome any action which dissuades the adulteration of perfectly acceptable coins with more original skin in the search of higher grade.
I also am looking forward to seeing how this impacts the choices and behaviors of those collectors who have bought marginal coins in the search for registry dominance.

I'll give you a reply since this thread won't draw any other replies I'm guessing

Nice... 90% of my coins are CAC... the 10% that aren't either just have to go back in, or aren't accepted by CAC.
My Type Set & My Complete Proof Nickel Set!
Ooooo...a CAC thread started by a moderator. This is the quickest way to getting banned!
Personally, kudos to PCGS for embracing the Market.
Another reason to prefer a PCGS 63 CAC over a PCGS 64 non-CAC (which, for the record, strikes me as nuts).
Smitten with DBLCs.
PCGS/CAC sets will remain entirely separate from existing PCGS Set Registry sets and no delineation will be made to recognize CAC in current non-PCGS/CAC sets or composites.

I can't play because CAC doesn't do MS Jeffersons, only proofs. My FS Jefferson War Nickel Registry set doesn't qualify.

Very interesting development. It could lead to downgrading in order to get the sticker...
Perhaps a PCGS/QA registry could be in the future if the PCGS/CAC registry proves to be a hit.

Is this live yet? I don't see a link to a PCGS/CAC Registry?
Can the same set be listed as a "normal" set and also in a PCGS/CAC Set?
Yes it is live! The composites (sets) can be found under their relevant categories. a full list of available PCGS CAC sets will be posted soon.

Shouldn't someone contact Brett and let him know that (obviously) his CU account has been hacked?😮

Oy Vey.
Created my first set. Now more to look for.
It is not April 1st yet
Might be a bigger boon to CAC than it will to PCGS(?)
Guess I don't see how PCGS benefits...unless they see a benefit from cutting off a CAC run registry before it starts?
No one can ban the big boss!
Kickback maybe? Maybe that explains the price increases at CAC. Now they have to give PCGS a Buck for every CAC coin in a registry!
Woo Hoo! I'm in the top spot, wonder if it will last the day lol.

Sounds like a good idea to me
I've finally done it! I'm #1.

I see this as a smart competitive move vs NGC. It will reinforce the PCGS brand as premier.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
I like it. I don't have any registry sets, but giving the market a choice, which is completely optional, seems like a good move.

Does QA have any kind of two-way market or buyback pricing like CAC and Eagle Eye?

Yay! Now, my sets will be even more incomplete LOL!
Good marketing move by PCGS. But, unfortunately, it won’t affect the way I play in the pond.
Congratulations, to our host, I’m sure it will be a great success!

Does this mean PCGS will allow NGC/CAC coins count? After all they are CAC’d also.
How can PCGS prove if a coin has a CAC sticker unless they have access to the CAC database.
What will Del Loy Hansen do now moving forward ?
Only PCGS certified coins are eligible for inclusion in any PCGS Set Registry composites, PCGS CAC composites included.
