wax, cello, rack, raw, graded, baseball, football, non-sport, beautiful, fugly, pricey, cheap......doesn't matter. only thing that does matter is that it's your all-time favorite pack. but only one. and anecdotes are encouraged!

quick synopsis of my contribution to this thread. back in 2016, i was scouring the bay for golf goodness when i stumbled across some packs i had never seen before. as unfamiliar as i was with them, i was very familiar with the visceral, i've-gotta-have that feeling that overwhelmed me when i saw them. according to the seller, these were 4-card, razor-thin cello packs issued at a junior tournament in the spring of 2016. in addition, he pimped the scarcity factor so very hard. typically when i read stuff like that, my spidey senses start tingling so severely that it requires ointment. but as i type this in September of 2019, i owe that dude some sort of tacit apology, because he was oh so right. to this very day, he is the only seller to put these on the open market. and his stash dried up almost two years ago.

thankfully, i didn't think too much at the time and repeatedly tagged the BIN button. and amid the buying chaos i fortunately acquired a pack with my favorite modern-day golfer on top. easily my favorite Spieth card, and easily my favorite pack. perhaps one day i can stick PSA with hot poker and get them to grade this 12-card set.

looking forward to what will appear below!

This is a 1st Series Wacky Packages wax pack. These were the first cards of any kind I ever purchased back in March of 1973.

These packs are very hard to find today. I first thought I owned one in 2001 when I bought an entire run of series 1-16 packs from a “friend” of mine. I say “thought” and “friend” because all of these packs were resealed garbage, among a total of 25 bad packs this phony sold me over the years.

Once I wised up and purged my collection of fakes, I desperately wanted to find a legit one. I knew a fellow collector who had a partial box of 21 packs. He absolutely didn’t want to sell them, and I would never have pursued it if it were a full box. But a partial box of 20 seemed no different from 21, so after four years of persistent pleading I pried one loose. And it’s a beauty! Without a doubt my favorite pack and the one with the greatest nostalgic wallop.

How did you finally find out the packs you bought were fake?

Once I understood how to check packs most of them were obviously resealed. They had been ironed to reseal and did not have visible roller marks.

The Schmitty / Keith rack is special. I don’t recall seeing too many 75 racks with the double star on top. A beauty.

i didn't expect everyone to comply. some collections are so extensive and so completely off the hook that it would be virtually impossible to narrow it down to one. just wanted to condense as much as possible to prevent a new addition from being on page 500, à la a blowout thread.

incredible stuff up above........hoping to see much more

Today i was delivering pizza's and one delivery was having a yard sale.
I walked through and noticed this Super Bowl XXV set contained in a single
box simular to a cigar box as it flips up and is a tough grade of paper.
Inside is a Ticket enclosed in glass with a hologram type photo. Very cool and clean.
Also a hat, poster, a tin with 160 Super Bowl cards unopened,a patch, and some kind of metal card.
The peisetareginsta (?) The actual program , Players pics...etc. never even looked through.
I really want to read through it but stalling because dont want to ruffel it.
Now heres the deja-vo, 1991 , Super Bowl XXV was...Giants vs Bills.
They were playing today as i bought it.
    Hmmm.

Easy choice for me, not sure I'll ever have a pack I enjoy more. Favorite player, card and rookie year. Doesn't get better for me.

If I could ever keep one unopened, the 87 Kahn's Reds would be my favorite. The lure of an 8 or better Larkin always gets the best of me. I guess I'll have to go with this pair and look into getting them slabbed for any long term chance of them staying in this state ...

Does anyone know if PSA will slab the 82D 'Fun Bags' packs?

The 1956 pack is beyond unicorn status. I can't imagine there are more than 10 nickel packs in existence?

I know of 3, there is supposed to be another. Mine, one that has a major tear across the front (that is probably emailed to everyone on a daily basis along with a picture of a time machine and an inane question), one from a major pack run that was sold a few years ago, and somewhere another.

But '65 penny was unheard of until a box turned up and flooded the market. That's the thing about a lot of this stuff- it could be sitting in a barn in Iowa (looking at you Kurt C) or a basement in Tennessee.

I knew Al and John would post some gems, nice stuff guys!

hahahahahahahahahahaha...actually a '69 pack--and they are finally starting to attract the interest that they should have years ago. There are not a ton of '69 packs out there. I recall 1 box sold thru ??heritage--years ago. packs here and there
