Could the model for the coin be this lady?

at 1,940 dollars, only a collector coin, no flip on this one. would rather spend 2 grand on pre-33 gold

They'll be selling it for 2 or 3 years. The 2017 didn't sell this many gold in 2 years. At 2 grand, count me out

I'm not expecting many first day sales

Definitely not in gold. Silver will sell some. I doubt it will sell out, but it will probably sell 15-20,000.

You're right. I neglected the x's. So it would be 1,500
Now with your number and Oldmaster it's 2,200

  • jmlanzafjmlanzaf Posts: 35,352 ✭✭✭✭✭

we are up to 069665xx at 12:12, so we are looking at 4000+ orders. At least 3 of those orders were me buying other things. I don't know whether I should be disappointed in that number or not. After all:
    1. It is a Mint medal
    2. It is a $100 Mint medal
    3. There are 50,000 of them...which is a LOT
    4. Did I mention it is a Mint medal?

    Then again:
    1. It is High Relief - how high, I wonder?
    2. It is 2.5 oz - much bigger than usual.

I bought one, but I won't be exercising my secondary accounts on this puppy.

Silver here, that gold is a little steep.....ok, a lot steep....if it were only prettier...those bulging eyes are not attractive.

I think her eye is the High Relief part, raised at least a cm above the rim...

I purchased one of the silver medals and I will purchase another PCGS 70. This is one of the few issues I will buy in Silver that is graded and take a chance on the spotting.

I would like to see an actual photo of one. The problem with the Mint website and its "artist representations" is that they often understate the coin itself.

Not falling in the Mints "medal trap." Just not enough collectors for medals and the mintage is way to high.

I'm interested to see the Silver encapsulated in a PCGS holder.

I wish the Mint would have gone with a Classic Liberty design instead of a "Scatterbrained Liberty" look...

  • My last US Mint purchase was a proof silver eagle in 1986. Until tonight. I've just purchased this issue in silver...I find both the size and design compelling.

well that's not really a surprise. They've never been unavailable.

When the HHL comes off, we'll find out if any of the big guys want to mess with these. My guess is they won't. It doesn't look like they sold more than 10-15k yesterday, so there doesn't seem to be enough interest.

I would be willing to bet that the gold medal is still available one year from today.

  • jwittenjwitten Posts: 5,218 ✭✭✭✭✭

The PCGS Instagram page posted an actual trueview style picture of the gold. The obverse seems cartoonish. They could have had a lot more detail on a high relief piece.

Just a run down of some of my AM checks. Also checked a few others and nothing was “replenished” maybe tomorrow.

I can't bring myself to buy either one, can't get around that 1/3 flowing hair, 2/3 sun rays, horrible concept.
Looks like something from the Franklin Mint, jmo.

That's not the kind of messing I'm talking about. They always buy a few hundred to slab. I'm talking about buying thousands to promote them.

Yes, normally comes off 24 hours later. You'll notice it didn't sell out even with only 50,000 available. THE BIG BOYS don't mess with these too much.
