Backlog of oversize slab holders and not enough large size sealing machines and really poor mint quality on that matte finish are also delaying the silver graded 70 medals availability, along with weak demand above..
I am looking forward to having one of the proof like gold liberties in a black PCGS holder. That coin is just plain stunning in that finish. And the quality is superb.

Spoke too soon....I see Pinehurst has Silver PCGS 70’s for $600 on the bay.
Already sold 22.
That is one serious asking price for less than $20/ounce silver melt,$100 Mint list price, and up to 50,000 minted. Whoever they are paying $600 really want to get what they deserve,... now. LOL.
These silver 2.5 ounce medals are really strange. Still almost no one has them except Pinehurst for $600. Really unusual. A relatively large number were sold and they all seem to have just vanished or are sitting in encapsulation rooms. The 70 pop is 236, so there are some more out there.
Well, one month from sending via USPS to grades received -
I'm disappointed as you can surmise. But, ya roll the dice and cross yer fingers.
@Hemispherical -
I saw it mentioned here a couple times that the large slab was causing delays. Same size as the 5 oz ATB's ? Not sure. I'll report when I get them back next week some time.

Here is the population as shown today. I'm sure my grades are not included.
I should mention here that I only went for the basic label.... no First Strike or other special label.

CS said he was pretty sure the slabs were the same as the 5 oz ATB's but with an appropriate insert gasket. He said the were trying to get better ones, inserts sized exactly for the Silver, but were using the best fit they have with a Mylar strip as a shim so the 2.5 oz Ag Liberty would be secure.
He noted this was his last day but would have some one get back to me about the recently updated slab dimensions and any update for the Ag Liberties.

Thank you for all the information and the research. Sorry to hear about your grades.
Hopefully their condition and appearance will be greater than we’ve seen previously.

Thanks. They had no marks or scuffs I could see. We never know why do we. This is why I favor a drawing like the GIA does for diamonds an precious gems that documents the characteristics. Added coin verification too. No two would be the same. Not a super detailed drawing but the main dings that dropped the coin from a 70. Extra cost ? Fine, I'd pay. Worth more to me than a First Strike label.
Still trying to understand why I split these up into two submission orders, one for modern gold coins, and one for oversize economy special medals. Extra cost to me for handling and shipping that way as instructed, and still waiting for the silver medal to finish grading. Sure would have made more sense to send them in one order.
Same thing happened to me with the American legion coin and medal set. Was told it had to be split after I sent it in, so I did not grade the coin as it was included in a larger medal submission, and I didn't want to pay an extra $10 for handling, and $22 more for shipping extra to move one <$50 value coin to another submission type
Edited to add that the silver medal is in the exact same holder as the new ATB holders 5-1/4 x 3-7/8.
Last time PCGS email me to let me pick my labels and it wasn't a surprise.
I was emailed that my order has been shipped back, I submitted my order during Long Beach show. Was I suppose to input instructions asking PCGS to email me for label selections?
9/22/2019 2019 AM LIBERTY 24K GOLD 1 OZ 7026
9/22/2019 2019 AM LIBERTY SILVER MEDAL 2.5 OZ 26380
9/29/2019 2019 AM LIBERTY 24K GOLD 1 OZ 7144 +118
9/29/2019 2019 AM LIBERTY SILVER MEDAL 2.5 OZ 26609 +229
I thought the silver medal sales would be more than it is, but +229 is pretty sad...
Surprised the silver even went up at all with the number of rumored returns and cancellations. The new matte finish is mostly 69 grade, so no need to waste time ordering several more from the Mint to try to get a 70.
I will admit I was critical of portions of this design at first, but I have to say, seeing the coin in person really helps make me more a believer. True 70's with a good strike are worth a premium, but I am happy with this 69, too.

Mine has been stuck in encapsulation for over a week. Hear it's the large slab problems.
Sooooooo happy I got my Black Label PCGS 70.
And she shines like a new dime
Is our hosts “standard” overside slab not thick enough, perhaps?

Mine is a 69. I didn't notice the little flaws visible in the rays above her head, but I think the PCGS TV photo is well done.

Like the reverse! The cartwheel gives the effect that the eagle’s claws are energizing a thunderbolt to cast upon whoever he is gazing at.
That is such an excellent photo that regardless of a few nicks or imperfections I would be really happy with that 69!
Personally, I still think that is a pretty coin. The Liberty perhaps less so than the eagle reverse, but I really like the medal

Received the graded Liberties back today. They came in a cardboard box with slots sized to accommodate the large holder.

The large holder looks to be the same overall size as the 5 oz ATB holder. The Silver fits this holder nicely.

Thanks for the info @Kudbegud.
