I like it, for the most part. I don't know if I'm crazy about the 50 random stars of differing sizes though. I think an ultra high relief of everything else would be gorgeous though! And I'll still buy one, even with the stars, lol.

The stars in the field sort of remind me of the Gobrecht Dollar... I think it's pretty cool.

I'm a big fan of the different size stars, like on the Gobrecht. I'm not sure about the 6 pointed stars yet but wouldn't mind seeing a mockup.

The Roman numeral date is awesome

It's awesome! I guess I miss the classical look of the sun rays (seems less busy), but stars may work. Thumbs UP on roman numeros! Thoughts on the reverse?

Yes it reminds me of my home when the snow falls. Very enlightening almost magical!

I'm going with 5-point stars because that is what is on the flag.
I will also use the Roman Numeral date.

I like what happened here today. DC reveals his Saint Gaudens inspired 2019 Union. Zoins says...Any possibility of using a Roman numeral date instead of "2019"? I post MMXIX * LIBERTY. Shortly thereafter DC responds with a new digital mock up with the Roman numeral date. It looks right. It draws several likes. I smile. Our small but dedicated community became a part of the design process.

Just please don't add "CU" initials to the design as well... the US Mint already puts way too many initials on their coins, lol! Fortunately, Dan does a much better job than the US Mint in finding an appropriate spot for his initials!

It was not me it was Ch#ef who showed me. I am sure Ch#ef wont mind me saying since its posted here some 16 pages back. Yellow sticky note paper pad, but not the sticky part, just wrapped up. But it has to be yellow that is what Ch#ef said so I did.
I flipped them over to see if will attach the other side.

I just checked DC’s web site nothing new yet had to buy something so I did. Price was right "1919" Peace Silver Dollar "Broken Sword" over-strike, High Relief, Bulk Handled yes I could not resist.

I've been curious as to what condition the "bulk handled" coins are in? Like bag marks, or a blemish that doesn't quite get the "high grade" stamp? I have always opted for the high grade pieces.

I've bought a lot of "bulk handled myself but when Dan is finished with a strike he looks at it if he sees anything he doesn't like about it he grades it "bulk handled ! All the ones I have bought "bulk handled I see nothing wrong with but I am no expert

My goal is to make every over-strike a perfect "high-grade" example.
But some inevitably have some flaws. If the flaw is significant, the coin is melted.
If the flaw is minor (like a small blemish or strike-through) then I convert it to a "bulk handled" example by putting it in a bag of nickels and shaking it up a little bit. The result is a typical "mint bag" appearance.
The "high grade" examples look like they came out of a specimen mint sets (never touched another coin).

If someone pays the higher price for a perfect coin, and there is a flaw on it, they probably won't be happy.
Rather than melting all the over-strikes that have minor flaws (which would be costly), I make them into a category akin to "factory seconds". Processing them in a bag of nickels is a way to make them look obviously different than the high grade examples. But the "bulk handled" over-strikes are generally still nice in appearance, consistent with an MS65 or better grade.
Whereas "high grade" usually means MS69.

A few local collectors I know that like Dan's overstrikes prefer the bulk handled examples. They put them in their albums, and they like how they blend in with the other coins in their set much more than the high grade perfect examples.

PipestonePete thanks for sharing! When I get mine I will post them then they go into a 2” X 2” snap and stock pile them with the rest of the DC coins! Gonna have to start a new box soon.

Very Impressive collection there @Gluggo! Got my 1919 Broken Arrow Peace Dollars today -- they are drop dead gorgeous! Amazing work Mr. Carr. I'd post pics, but others already have done so. Can someone explain why none of these get a MS70 grade? I now need to catch up this set with the 1917 if anyone has some extras...PM me...

Good question.

MS69 is the highest grade I've seen from ANACS for fantasy overstrikes.

There have been some 70s as of late but I do not remember which ones. They are posted some 5 to 15 pages back if you want to take the time to look into memory lane. But like I said I do not know which DC coins they were and they were graded by ANACS.

Plenty of Dan Carr pieces get MS70 from ANACS. But none are fantasy overstrikes.
