The law stipulated that the medals could be given validity as legal tender by a royal decree. That decree was never granted, leaving these enigmatic pieces forever between coin and medal.

    Lot 432 of the Stacks sale. Only coin called Gem Uncirculated in the sale so seemingly the finest.
