Yes it is the overstruck $20 Double Eagle.

No photos, they just mailed them today.

I did post a photo back in the thread where we were tracking sales to Forum members but is was raw.

Well, I had copy & pasted these grades from my e-mail but it didn't format right in my post so I had to rearrange everything to make it look right.

In checking the only ones they actually listed as overstruck were the 3 Indian Head Cents.

I will see what the label actually says in a few days.

I made a mistake in my editing but all the grades are correct.

One of the reasons I started collection Carr was because of the simplicity of it. It was romantic. No grading just appreciation for the coin/ medal. I wish grading services would have slabbed them without grade as PCGS does with some restrikes

I certainly wouldn’t pay more for a higher graded Carr coin as struck

The only reason I have mine graded is for protection. I see lots of bad looking pieces still in flips, probably poor storage habits. I have MS68-70 on all my pieces, two of the 68s look 70 to me. So I'm happy with them in plastic without spots or scratches. My favorite Carr piece is a 68.

I asked Dan a while back if he could. The fact that there’s no rim makes it a diffult overstrike but he said he’ll keep trying. I suggested a 1907 &2 1/2.

I am with Mark above; I really don't care the grade if the coin is "as struck". I like them - his coins, etc. within reason (although I may have lost it with the Confederate gold bit!).

Daniel Carr does beautiful work! I have a few of his designs. I learned an interesting characteristic of the overstruck St.Gaudens gold coins while examining @GRANDAM's coins that make them special above their beauty and limited mintage.

I cannot express my surprise as I examined the coin and thought to myself that Mr. Carr had "nailed" his duplication of a genuine edge including the style, die polish, and segmented collar! His edge was better than I'd ever seen on a struck counterfeit! A call to Mr. Carr proved to be informative. His issue using a genuine $20 are struck out of collar so the edge of the overstruck coin is as the original.

Yes, he said this on his site too. I think he said they are actually slightly larger in diameter than the originals because of this.

The broad-striking increases the diameter from the original 34mm to about 35mm.

You know I can't stop looking at these coins. They are Beautiful and accurately graded.
The MS70's are flawless and I see just a small hit in one spot or another on the MS69 Coins.

As I understand it ANACS still doesn't give the MS70 grade to the re-strike coins,,,,, only medals.

I am sorry but I sent 6 coins to ANACS once and when I saw those holders I immediately broke the coins out.

Do not like that holder.

I personally like the geometry of the current slanted-top ANACS holders better than all the other grading service holders.
I've come to really dislike the stacking tabs on PCGS holders because they make it a pain to put slab-protector sleeves over them. The NGC holders are too tall for most of the slab boxes. The ICG holders have the strange narrowing near the label. And all of them are thicker than the ANACS holders which means that the ANACS holders take up less space. I like the ANACS Moonlight Mint and Clark Gruber labels, of course. I don't really like the standard yellow labels, though.
