One of my favorite silver Ike’s
How much ya want for it?? JK
I missed out on the Ike O/S Ikes. I so want a 1970 clad but haven't seen one available for sale whenever I look. I think I'd "settle" for a silver..... Beautiful example!
Edit to add: There is a 1970 Clad on eBAY but it is the much, much rarer MATTE finish. The 70 clad I'm looking for is the SATIN.
I'm a fan of those Merlin coins, and of the Ike overstrikes, but I missed out on both! That's the problem with Dan's stuff - once you miss out, you have to wait for the next ones.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
I'm glad that Dan creates stuff for varied interests. I like the overstrikes myself, the fantasy coins. Others here like the Merlin KOTCT coins - not for me but appreciate those that have them.

Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Almost a couple years later and I am still surprised that the hologram shows as well as it does on the antique silver.
Thank you Dan. I was very lucky to get some of these pieces. Most of the silver pieces are top quality. On the antiqued piece the seller let me pick one of his two. The hologram is very strong on that piece, the strongest of all the pieces. You did a great job on these.....btw, the holograms on the 2016 bars look just like they did the day I got them.
I hope you get a new hologram shim and make us some more cool stuff.....

I did do some of the "1964-D" Peace over-strikes as PL (some as cameo):
The fields on a Peace Dollar are not consistently basined. They are wavy and irregular. There is also that trough along the back side of Liberty's neck (which is a high ridge on the die). This makes polishing the fields difficult. If I do a "1936" proof-like over-strike I will re-sculpt the fields to make them semi-spherical on the dies.
The surface of this Proof strike looks like it has the typical "orange peel" surface found on Proof gold. What do you think causes it? Some say it is the die. others say it is the way the planchet was annealed.

In this case the "orange peel" is in the die. Since the fields of a Peace dollar are uneven and not basined to a constant radius I simply polished over the existing fields as they were. Those dies had over-struck about 600 pieces prior to the polishing, so there was some die wear present. On a coin where the fields are basined at a constant radius (or flat) I will typically sand down the fields a little bit prior to polishing. This will eliminate any machining marks and orange peel texture.

I sure didn’t see those 64 Peace dollar cameo being offered when I bought my die pair 5. I guess I missed out
When I offered these in 2010, the order of release was:
Die Pair 5 brilliant satin quad-struck with lighter force.
Die Pair 5 brilliant satin single-strike with higher tonnage.
Die Pair 6 brilliant satin.
Die Pair 6 proof-like.
Die Pair 6 matte.
The last two types were only available for a relatively short time near the end of the run.
I wonder which one this is? I mean I know it's a die pair 5 but it was so long ago I don't remember all of the details.
Thanks for any help.....
That is probably a single-strike later-issue Die Pair 5.
I think the earlier Die Pair 5 over-strikes do not have the die pair listed on the certificates.
Thank you, Dan. Much appreciated
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Did anyone buy one of the toned Panama 100th anniversary tokens from 2014?
I bought a couple of those and a couple of toned 2014 copper Ameros.
If you were among the buyers check to see if the color has changed over these last four years. I do like the new colors, I was just a little surprised they turned so fast. I live in the low humidity area in Central California so I know that wasn't the cause.

To be honest that coin is on my wish list... haven’t found one for sale but if I did I would pay top dollar for silver...

I knew it would happen.
I agree... last night I just bought a set of 6 Merlin’s satin and polished brass, copper and silver...
Did you say you bought a set last night? Was it the 2016 set?
Nice job Chief on the great accomplishment and great pictures.

Renman95 you got 4 70's back from ANACS? That has to be a record? Good job or should I say Good job DC!
Voyager that is some wicked coin's!

Good Question, mine looks the same...

I Love my 1964-D" Peace over-strike Proof it is aw sum !

Getting a 70 on that Gold Concept Saint is too cool.

Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Chief good job 4 70's nice! Wow
When did ANACS start giving MS70's on Dan Carr items?
ANACS hasn't graded MS70 for fantasy overstrikes (so far). Not sure why. But other Carr products have graded MS70.
Successful BST transactions with forum members thebigeng, SPalladino, Zoidmeister, coin22lover, coinsarefun, jwitten, CommemKing.
One of many 70s......Dan makes top notch items.
OK, I knew I had read here that ANACS didn't give MS70's I just thought it was for all DC items.
