    Those stock grips just 'look' too small for the firearm. I would vote for the target grips.
    Ultimately, my decision would have to be made by how it felt in my hand. My hands aren't that big, it's possible that the stock grips are just right.

    I think Lincoln & Kennedy would disagree with the "fun" part of the title. Oh, but they're not here.

    I zeroed the 22 in, and can hit a 6" inch saw blade at 100 meters. Had the wife take aim and she hit it 4 times in a row. So that bruised my ego.... and I put it away. Then I said to her ..." quit showing off. It's not a toy."
    She thinks I'm funny.

    Neither should this as it has nothing to do with the topic. I don't think anyone that gets shot - right or wrong, war or not thinks guns are fun._

    In my limited experience, women are often better "shots" than their husbands or boyfriends.

    ...garands can use clips to topload their fixed magazines...clips are not an actual part of the firearm, but instead a tool used to speedload it’s fixed magazine...you can load clips till the sun comes up but your weapon won’t be in battery till it’s magazine is loaded, with or without the “clip”...that’s all ;)

    I wasn't confused about the difference between magazines and clips until I read this thread. :s

    If we are going to talk about guns, why don't we talk about something that's not so confusing or controversial, like (1) what's the best concealed carry gun or even better, (2) what's the best weapon for home defense. >:)

    He was talking about an M-1 rifle. They used "Clips" or you could load a bullet one at a time.

    Yes. Thanks, for the correction (see above post also) - lazy mistake. I sound like one of those reporters using the word "bullet." I probably should be more precise when posting. Why pass along more improper terms. We don't allow "front" or "back" when writing about coins here either.

Such a question (as I am sure you know) has so many variables, that it would require an entire forum to explore - so much depends on the person in the first case and the home/person in the second.     I would offer that the simplest and most effective weapon is always the way to go for home defense - and that you practice with it. Objective is to stop the threat - no more, no less. Remington 1100 shotgun for home defense - unless you have another brand/type you shoot more frequently. Depending on the size room/space needs that you would most likely find yourself at home, there are many barrel lengths and stock options that can make this a very short and maneuverable weapon.

    Concealed carry does have many variables as ricko says. The simplest one that goes bang every time you pull the trigger. Self defense is not something to try to get fancy with. For me, my preference is a 3" 1911, but often I just carry my Glock 36 because it requires one less step to go bang (even though I have built flipping the 1911 safety off into my muscle memory).

    Don't forget what it's going to sound like on the witness stand if the prosecutor describes your "highly modified tactical military style gun with cop killer bullets in it" will sound to someone in the jury box who has never picked up a gun. Doesn't sound so much like self defense, does it?

    Keep it simple and effective ... :smile:

    Coins and currency are rapidly going by the wayside due to electronic transactions. What % of transactions are physical today? I'd expect <1% but am not sure. Certainly only the smallest of transactions are still supported by physical money, and as cash cards and such proliferate, these will eventually be done electronically as well.

    Now, if by that time our guns can also be taken from us, Heaven help us.

    The only problem I have with a shotgun for home defense is the spray pattern can put others in harms way and not just the perp. Granted it's certainly a point and shoot weapon and pinpoint accuracy is not required. Maybe a combination choice of either a shotgun or handgun being available depending on whether I'm home alone or whether others are present. Multiple layers of security are necessary in my opinion.

    @ricko It's a Chinese "Mace" coin ... mace being a weight measurement. I'm not sure of the different weights or composition. Trying to keep it coin/gun related :smiley:

    @topstuf...That Springfield is a beauty.... Just saw one yesterday at the range...the shooter was very proud of it and even more proud of his results....grouping was about three inches at eight yards....Three magazines worth....Cheers, RickO
