2 1944 WLHs guess the grades & guess which one sold for almost 10x more

Both look MS 67.
I like the first one the best.

2nd coin has super clean obverse but reeding marks on the wing.
Both look 67/67+ to me.
The first coin looks almost AT from the images provided but the images are not the best, as @Justacommeman said.
I will guess that both are in 66 holders and one sold for 67 money. Hard to say which as the 2nd is the nicer coin but those 4 hits on the wing are quite visible. I'll still guess 2nd one got 67 money.
First one has a lot of this and that noise on the reverse. The obverse features a nice strike and clear fields. Has the great color. MS67 on the color/in spite of reverse noise.
Second one looks wonderful and seems to exhibit a real original 'skin'. Sort of looks like the lone MS68 that sold for oodles of money (I think near $100K) several years ago when first made. However, I get the sense that both coins have the same grade for your question's premise. MS67 on the second one, and it sold for the big bucks.

67+really nice piece, though imo not 10X as nice especially a common date.
The second coin looks like an "all there" MS68. The top coin a 66+.

I will add that the strike along with eye appeal-at least if I were looking for a '44-are awesome. I definitely would ante up quite a bit more for #2.
I'm guessing the second one has the slightly higher grade and much higher resulting price.
Also why I don't play in the late date mega grade arena.....too little difference for a lot more money, though this has been narrowing considerably. And with grade-flation some of my old 65's may be today's 66's.
First coin has a print in the right field. The chatter holds it to MS 66. The second coin looks flawless and uniform. They don't grade these MS 68 like...........ever so MS 67 + be my guess.
I would guess they both were awarded MS66.... and the second one, being more 'flashy', sold for the larger sum. Cheers, RickO

I remember that coin and was going to mention it......the PCGS 68 is a pop one coin while the NGC is not....it is a pop 2 and not in the right plastic for some. I still like the NGC coin and BOTH look 68 imho. There were audible gasps on the auction floor, as the price skyrocketed to almost $110K for the PC coin. It is now in the #1 PCGS registry short set.

Look at all that chatter on the pcgs skirt. Thats not what a 68 should look like IMO. Big baller must have submitted that.
WHAT!!! The PCGS one is MS68? Look at the skirt area............lol oh my. HA did a good job sort of hiding it with their pic as you can't even see the skirt hits that well

To defend one side of the coin, it doesnt look like those are bag marks on the wing after all. Just shadows on the feather curves. But still, the skirt is bad. I think the other NGC 68 is the best of the 3. But it has problems too.
@mkman123 if you and I posted those coins in 66 holders asking if they had a shot at 67 we'd be laughed at.
I agree with the big baller theory. Both coins have hits that rule MS 68 out if I'm grading them.
Fingerprint hurt the NGC coin, but I agree, both are over graded. 68 means maybe 1 tiny mark I thought. Both are very nice though.
Both are a grade too high.

That's a lot of money for a very common coin.
Even the NGC coin sold for mucho mas dinero!!
From the images , I don’t find either coin appealing
I wonder what each coin is worth in the current market. I bet both have depreciated.

I would be curious. My bet would be quite a lot even though I really like the pcgs coin, probably not near enough to spark my interest.
20 years ago, the second coin would not have been put into a 6 holder because of the skirt lines. This is killing the hobby.
The white balance is off on the NGC coin, so I can't see it as clearly as the PC coin.
