What is your favorite Buffalo Nickel by date and Mint?
There's something about the 1921 P and S Buffs that intrigue me. Now, I'm not asking what your favorite Buff is because you have a "super coin" slabbed.
That doesn't count.
Which date and mint has raised your adoration to the level of Dementia?
So many likes for me. Yet I really have to say the 1921 Buffs reign supreme. The detail is exceptional, and the Mint should not have prettied up the coin for just one year, then went back to business as usual.
Let's here what you have to say, Buff Nuts.

None of them have "raised my admiration to dementia." My favorite piece in my collection is the 1936 Satin Proof. It showcases the design better than any other example I have seen.
1913 type 1 and mainly for the same reasons you like the 1921.
Even Denver got it right on the type 1s more often than not.
Being a long time collector, I’ve always respected the 15S and the 26D.
Hands down-the 1916 doubled die obverse.
.
1926-s for its ridiculously worn dies. then the 13 p 3.5 legger. then the eds strongly struck pre-20s coins. they are posted here regularly.
.
I have to say hands down it is a fully struck 26-D! I think in all my years I handled 1 XF!
As far as I know no such coin exists. Same goes for a dozen or more dates in the series.
I had not focused on a year and mint in my Buff collection... until I discovered I had a D/D/D/S 1938. Then I began looking for more - they often seem to be attributed as only D/S...so good opportunity for cherry picking. Cheers, RickO
No Buffs in my collection as of now... but that will change soon.
Too many to list, but the 1930 Ps have always interested me because of the numerous doubled die varieties that can still be found, even among slabbed coins.
My 1st one beside a couple "pocket" change

I know they are not in vogue, but I like the 1936 Satin proof as well. BTW, @BuffaloIronTail , I just got an amazing 1921 back from PCGS. Saw it was your favorite. Holler if interested.

By far, the neatest buffalo nickel is the 1918/7-D. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

26-D, 26-S, 23-S, and all the other dates infamous for being struck absolutely horribly.

I prefer the 1912 model that was supposed to be used. Noticeably better than the 1913 version.....an opinion.
I love the 1913 Type 1 P as it is just gorgeous. A fully struck example is simply art that was made to be used as money. The rough fields and the raised mound, it was clear that it was meant to be a work of art. Followed by the last year of issue the 1938-D. It looks like Denver thought, "Well, this is the last time we do this, so let's do a GREAT JOB". There are so many well struck eye appealing examples at an affordable price, how can you not like them?
1st year as well.
Hoard the keys.
Buffalo T1 P,D, or S. Absolutely the love the chiseled look.

Type2, you need to change your handle to Type1.

I'm not a big Buffalo fan but it would be a 37D - Found it raw and had it slabbed. Matter of fact, it doubled the size of my slabbed herd.
From a purely artistic point of view it would be the Variety One coins-
@konyewest that 13-S is one of the nicest I've seen. Mine is pretty nice but that one smokes it.
I do like type ones....They're struck so well.
I would have to say though, I'm partial to the common three legger. It was one of the first scarcer coins that I bought as a kid, and even non-collectors know something about it. They always assume that it's worth a fortune. I think that's probably because it's mentioned in movies once in a while.
1934-D
Only buffalos I did were a short set from the 30’s as a young man and I never could find a fully struck one
My favorite Buffalo Nickel is the 1931-S.
Thanks clarkbar04. It took me a while to find that one.
I really like well-struck, problem-free XF 1921-S and 1924-S Buffs. I buy them by the roll..

38 D. Hammered strike, great type coin, and affordable, even in super grades. Disclosure; this is the only Buff I own, as I am a type collector.

LOL - I bet you would....it would probably take someone a lifetime to accumulate 40 of either of those coins in XF.
My faves are the 21-P & S
I'm partial to the 1912.

Ahh the 13's T1's and all the proofs are all Fine Art IMO

I like the 1913 Type 1 with the mound also.

Thanks for the pic. It doesn't get seen very often.

same here, got a 38 d ms 66 toned one.
For me, I like D-Mint Buffs in general as part of the series... I am especially impartial to the '19-D and '20-D:

For @BuffaloIronTail... a '21-P:

A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
1931-S
I can't get enough type 1's.
Otherwise any of them before the dies got all clashed and eroded.

1913 T1....
1936 Satin Finish Proof.
For me this coin showcases the design better than anything else.
Alot of favorites... most I will realistically never be able to afford.
16/16 and the 18/17 are the kings IMHO
Hard to beat a mint state high grade Type I or the '38D for a type set.
