That looks like it would be fun to spin but not something I'd want to try at $2300.

Fun coin. What does the "reverse" look like?
Ooooo. Given that it's the convex side, there's even more Queen to "love".
I probably have paid to much for most of my coins, but it's the hobby I love and always come back to after all the other hobbies I have kicked to the curb.
My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

If that Merc is NT than a lot of the coins that people on these boards poo poo as being AT are probably NT also. If that coin was in a non PCGS holder everyone would be disparaging it. I am not calling it either just commenting.
I'd lay good money on that Merc being out of an original Mint Set.
Don't know how that could happen - Mint Sets were first issued in 1947.

Purchased years ago, before I new what CAC was or really anything about slabbed coins. I really love VF30/35 coins. This probably went for 60% over where retail was. Didn't care then, don't care now. One of the coins that I love most in my collection.

I feel like I overpaid for all of them, but I don't regret it.

PCGS PR65 BR or higher?
You can never pay too much for a coin like this. You just have to wait for the market to catch up.
