Who Supports You the Most?

KellenCoinKellenCoin Posts: 1,237 ✭✭✭✭

Those of us in this fascinating hobby often require support from others to participate in our interests. As a YN, my parents are the main supports for me. But I am curious: who supports you the most? Is it your spouse, parents, friend, employer, etc?

Have a nice day!

    My dad influenced me.

Certain board members have been mentors and/or friends.

But I am my own supporter.

Wife of 51 years and best friend. Never complains when we "have to go" to a show even though she could care less about coins.

I pay my own way. But more importantly, if it wasn't for several people in the business that watch my back, I would have stopped collecting many years ago.

Myself. I have never had any 'support' for this hobby.... my wife tolerates it, just not interested in coins. Even when I was a kid... it was me alone... my kid brother was not interested, my parents not interested...although my Dad had a few Morgans and German coins in his bureau drawer... he never did anything with them...nor did he express interest in any coins I found. Although, one memorable day, when I showed him a '55 DDO, he did say "You should keep that, it will be worth something one day in the future."..... :D Cheers, RickO

    God, my job and wallet!

I am a so called YN. None in my age group even knows anything about numismatics. Most like minded people that i talk to about coins are 30yrs older than me!

I have a lot of friends on here and in person. We are all collectors so we have common interests. Even my two older brothers like coins so it makes collecting more fun for sure.

Researchers and authors have made collecting much more enjoyable for me. It is great to know the people, processes, and other facts that enabled the coins to be minted.

My wife thinks it's just another odd hobby.

    Thank full she is supportive.

Mostly I do small deals for Ebay and cherry picking so it technically supports itself along with adding found money.

Someday, I will pursue it as a true second income opportunity.

My biggest fan is my son. He is 35 years old and a very sharp man. He alone has inspired me to be the best I can be. We love each other so much I can not put it into words how beautiful our relationships is. I love my son more than word can express.

My wife loves it when it's time to sell.

Without the few good friends I've made through this board, it wouldn't be fun at all and I might have quit by now.

Now it's time to go pull a few more whales with my trout rod.

Actually, having just sold about half of my collection (for a modest profit) she's seeing all this madness in a more favorable light.

Out of all seriousness, no one. It's just something I do on the side from time to time.

Maybe they'll pay more attention to them later. Like when I'm dead and they are selling them. Haha
