That 1948 has nice, warm, pretty rim toning while the 1956-D is much more colorful than these are typically found. Nice pair.

Yes it is and I consider it one of the Best ones in the Series and in a Older Holder as a MS 64......

Hete is a proof variety, the 1951 Tumor Variety. Due to the presence of two die polishing marks on Washington's forehead and above the eyebrow. An added bonus is the fact that this variety is usually possesed of very heavy ftosted and deep mirrors being a very early st r ike off on fresh dies.

If You look on the Eagles Right Wing your Left you will see that Most of the Details are missing. I know Julian the Dealer was the first one to show me this a few years ago, he named it and I found this MS 66 Raw on Ebay shortly after and have not seen another one since....If it ever makes the CPG I will be Ready........Tom

Just picked this quarter up in a beautiful proof set I purchased....The half dollar in this set is just thee most incredibly beautiful piece I can't even tell ya, I'd have to show you but this is a quarter thread, so....
Edited to say I'm doing some work to my camera set-up so I must apologize for the slightly out of focus imaging. This was done harshly.

Thank you! I started collecting slabbed 1940 - 1964 Washingtons (predominantly in MS66) about 7 years ago. Given that the 1930's are where most of the pricy Washingtons reside, this was a relatively low cost way to have some collecting fun.

About 3 years ago, I branched out in to putting together a toner Dansco, and, given coin collector OCD, I ended up with three of them as I kept upgrading. I've stopped that now, as at this point I've pretty much bounced up against the limit of where Washingtons are considered valuable enough to slab, versus them being raw when I buy them. In any case it's been a fun relatively inexpensive ride. In my A toner Dansco the average cost of a 1940 - 1964 Washington is $26.66. In the B toner Dansco it's $21.88, and in the C toner Dansco it's $18.73.
