That was once in my Registry set. I was looking for my current example.
I found a dozen VF20's, 25's, 30"s and 35's...but no 40's.

I have an XF 40 in my set now...just can't find it on Photobucket.
Need to re-examine my latest additions done by MV. I probably
just by passed it.

I have never added or subtracted color from any coin.
Two weeks ago, I took your advice and cracked out
three Quarters ( all NGC ) and submit them raw to
our hosts. Which I did. I requested Tru View images
as I knew you had not seen some of the coins yet. I am
waiting to hear my True Views are available !

I'll be happy to put up your image(s) against the True Views.
As they say, put your money where your mouth is.

BTW: Valente151 knows how appreciative I am...we like to
exchange barbs every so often. It keeps him in his place.

Vern... I like the circ 1901-O. Nice coin for your raw set. My filler circs that I have picked up lately
we're all sent to CAC - and I was pleasantly surprised they all Passed. Thank God, I know how to
grade a circulated coin that is choice for the grade. If only I could hone my skills to include AU material.
I submitted 30 coins....1/3 Passed. Seems to be my running average. One coin I bought that did pass
was a surprise, as I thought it had been dipped to its max, and a coin I had conserved from an NGC 65
holder that wouldn't cross due to Altered Surfaces at PCGS, and was resubmitted and came back as a 64;
well, that coin did not Pass. It's clearly a 64+

Jeff.. ..I agree with the majority ... That 1904 is a beauty and worthy of a 64 grade, IMHO. Let's see what
my YN's younger set of eyes come up with. I'll be happy to post a few more later on today once I am back
from the dog park.

Justin.... You've been doing extremely well as of late picking up those Halves. They all are very choice
and I can see another fantastic VF/XF set is in the making. Looking forward to your newps.


Nothing new or exciting this past week. While Baltimore was in progress, I did pick up a nice AU58 - 1888
V Nickel. From the Gals at JJ Teaparty. No images yet, guess I have to wait till Valente151 comes down for
another visit.

Ok, have "fun with your coins" .

Jeff".. You are missing nothing.... The OBV looks 65 (IMHO ) and the Reverse
looks 63. The OBV side rules the grade, so the coin should have graded no less
than 63...and closer to a 64. What do I know, though. I've been called a blind
old man by two YN's this week.

Nice coin for a 62. I think it's choice and should Gold CAC ...worth a shot.

where is the image of Valente in the 1st grade coloring his picture book ?
His Mom took the crayons away from him as he was eating them.

Yeah, tell me about it. I had all of these coins at different times.
I found the 96-S for Labelman... hoping I could have kept it for
myself, but I had just bought a pile of Dimes from the seller ( JJ
Teaparty ) and funds were low. Not wanting it to go out of my
"reach", I contacted Criag, and I guess my enthusiasm convinced
him to buy it. I sold his 1896-O for him when he decided he only
wanted MS coins....ha ha ha...and the Phila. issue was from the
Elbesaar Collection sold in August, 2011. { I find it hard to believe
it's been 4 years since my sale }.

Each and everyone of those three coins is superior for its grade,
and it looks as if CAC agrees with me.

Guess, I should put up all my 1896 Dated Quarters .... Once I'm off
the iPad....

....My photobucket account is a mess - I have too many coins in too many files. I'll keep searching.

I submitted three raw Quarters ( all ex: NGC ) and I got the grades back the other day,
and now, I'm waiting for them to be delivered. ( Which should be this afternoon ).

Only one coin was not imaged by Valente 151 as I picked it up at the July FUN show
- courtesy of Liz Coggan of JJ Teaparty.

Here is the coin from Liz - a 1905 Philly - now: PCGS 58.

The two other coins that Mike did image were 1896-O ( Ex/ NGC 58 ) which (again ) I cracked out
and submitted raw. The coin was processed and the results are in: It's also an AU 58.

The last coin submitted was a 1907- Philly - ( Ex: NGC 60 Fatty Holder - CAC ) which received a MS 62
grade .

I find these pictures to be quite interesting. Mainly because everyone has said the True View pictures are too light. You be the judge.
I have found Valente's images to be true to life - and the True Views look nothing like the coins. Odd, to say the least. Sorry, Phil.

JMW & I both feel that this is the sleeper date in the series.
