    Vern, my ex-father-in-law gave his family hand-me-down collection. It included this one seated coin and a bunch of Bust coins. The Bust coins went back to an 1812 CBH in VF25-30 ish.

    4 neat coins from Regulated. I'd grade them 67,66,67,66. And that 76cc dime sure looks like a specimen. Any chance that's the James Stack 76cc?

    keyman - What a great group of coins from the ex in laws. By coincidence, yesterday I went thru my mother in law's box of coins, where the highlight (???) was 16 common Morgan/Peace dollars.

    It's not the Stack coin, but I always chase that pedigree - he had a great eye. The coin in question was in a PCGS SP66BM CAC holder the last time I saw it and first appeared in Rarcoa '90. I miss it. I also grade it a strong 67+, but given the politics around that issue, I doubt it will see the right grade any time soon.

    I went a little crazy on Heritage auctions this weekend. I found lots of low grade (but very attractive) seated quarters, and there was a nice group of AU half dimes too, but my fave was an 1852-O dime NGC 53 (NGC 2/38, PCGS 2/21). Also love the 1869 quarter NGC G-06 (NGC 1/21, PCGS 3/49). These coins are so scarce and I believe under-appreciated, and it's a real pleasure to find them and give them a happy home. I'll try to get them off to the professional photography studio asap.

    There are so many beautiful seated coins out there if you're not trying to be king of the hill. A smooth original VG makes me happier than a dinged up, pasty XF or AU that got sympathy-slabbed. Some of these G-VG coins can be pretty pricey too, but I think they are worth every penny.

    Paesan - Congrats on the newps from HA. I agree on the attractiveness of a nice good to VG, as opposed to a cleaned or marked up XF to AU (even if it's been slabbed).

    This coins has some history, before I acquired it the coin used to sit in NGC MS67PL plastic. At some point it was crossed to PCGS but only 66. I acquired it, and sent it into CAC and it now has a green bean image
