    Freddie, Thanks on the half dime. I like your 59-O quarter as well. Regarding the '51, I'm way too lazy to do nice pix, but fret not; it's on its way to Iowa for the Lucanus CAC sticker, then to Illinois for photo immortality. Hopefully it will be returned along with some other goodies, and pix forthcoming in 30-45 days. :-)

    Love the 1840-O quarter posted above (and the 1859-O), so I thought I'd share this 1840-O dime.
    The 1840-O is a conditional rarity due to poor production quality, and few were saved.
    In choice or gem it is definitely the toughest no drapery dime by far.

    This is the only gem certified by PCGS. The TrueView image falls a little flat on this coin; it actually has pleasing peripheral color in hand.
    Ex Gardner, PCGS MS65 CAC, pop 1/0.

    It's been quite some time since I saw that Dime on line,
    it's just in my Photobucket account with all the other 1847
    coins I have owned - and I had no idea the size was so large.

    If you want larger, hook up your computer to a 32" monitor
    and I'll try and fill the screen for ya...LOL !!


    Vern - I have seen that Quarter before and found the coin very
    interesting. I believe someone was showing it Glenn at a show
    where I was helping him. I had never heard of a cancelled die
    being pressed back into service before - so - the coin stayed
    with me. Really nice coin and congratulations !

    There have been several 1840-O quarters posted this week, but no others of this variety (FS-501). The distinguishing characteristics are that it's the With Drapery variety, with the large O mint mark to the right of the R in QUAR, and doubling of the reverse denticles. It's currently a pop 2, 5 better at PCGS. The best part was that I cherry-picked it - out of my own collection, after owning it for almost 40 years. Sorry for the large pics, but they show the reverse doubling.

    Here is a nice looking 1845 in an Unc details holder for questionable color. I like it a lot!

    I am not sure where the UNC details are; especially since it came out of an ANACS 55 holder. RPD FS-301, Doubled '45' variety.

    This just arrived in the mail today, it is an upgrade for me and a tough coin to find. I had an AU55, which was nice, but I really wanted something with a little more luster and slightly different look. This coin has a lot of luster, which probably doesn't come through the photo that much.

    Anyway, nothing earth-shattering but a tough coin to find in UNC collector grade.

    LOVE the 68-S Seated half. Great eye appeal. So often XF and higher graded Seated material just hasn't been treated well.

    Thanks for the comments on the 1868-S half. They don't come along in this condition often. I'm trying to put together a date set of pieces that look like this and they are few and far between. So far this year I have only located 2 pieces that meet my criteria for eye appeal. The good material just seems to have dried up....

    freddie - didn't notice my typo on the 24 grade until you mentioned it. Would be the first certified VF-24.
    Color looks good to me on your '45 RPD. I think ANACS got the grade right.

    MDG - really nice looking 69-S dime. Thanks for posting.

    Tyler - your CC half is another perfect looking XF IMO.
