Freddie, coin looks really nice, but maybe a few hairlines? Hard to see for sure from photos.
I won the 1850 quarter on heritage, PCGS AU-50. Coin looks dipped, but "market acceptable" to borrow a fellow forum member's expression. I just think price guide is way off compared to population reports. For example the 50(p) has a lower pop than the 50-O almost across the board, yet the 50-O is double the price. I'm still learning a lot here, so I'm sure there is a good explanation.
Hey all, I know this post isn't going to have a pretty seated liberty in it, but I have begun to assist Gerry Fortin and the Liberty Seated Collectors club in pushing it's media presence and to do that I am trying to get some collectors of all ages to join both the LSCC (which has a very cheap membership at only 20$) which provides many online resources to help collectors learn and understand the history behind the seated coinage as well as access the meetings allowing for members to meet and discuss what they love! The new item that I am working on with some help from other collectors is the Facebook page! It would help me if any of you on here would consider joining the Facebook page or LSCC and post there on occasion to help give it some life weather it be a comment or picture of a coin or club meeting or an interesting article! I also posted a piece of eye candy on that page that is not posted here and if anyone has any suggestions on how we can improve the page or experience please let me know!!
Thanks Vern, I Have a feeling it is going to be slow as several people are not ready for the transition, but I believe you can still look at the page even if you aren't a member.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for supporting the LSCC but I would rather pull out my teeth with plyers than join "The Facebook"; must be an age thing. Just want I want is one more source spying on me taking all my coin pictures and posting them God knows where.
Anyway, here's a nice 57-s, 2-C, p40
It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.
Here's a couple of coins that are pretty fun. The dollar I received just yesterday from the Heritage Long Beach auction. It's another that Mark Feld gave me the thumbs up on. Opening the box and finding this little jewel inside was a real treat. I suspect it was dipped "back in the day" but the way it has come back is just fantastic. It's tempting to juice the color a little to show how it looks in-hand, but you can use your imagination:
This one is from Tom Bush. It's not the fanciest coin, and shows signs of light circulation, but for originality, it just can't be beat:
BryceM, I was the underbidder on that 69 $1. I had set a bid I was comfortable paying, kudos to you for going one bid higher. I didn't see it in hand and had no one to review it, else I might have gone one increment higher

Great looking 1878-P quarter! As you point out, it's so much tougher than the low mintage 1879 - 1890 Philly quarters.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the kind words. Heritage botched their description of the coin in saying, "The 1878 Philadelphia issue is the toughest date in the decade (in Mint State) despite a mintage of 2.2 million coins." Of course this should read of the LATE 1870's Philly issues, there are several early 70's Philly issues that are tougher (the 1870 comes immediately to mind!). The 1878 Philly lives in the shadow of the VERY tough '78-S. By the way, there's a lovely '78-S in 65 on the market right now for ~30K if anyone's interested (not my coin)
None to date of the 1878 Philly have been graded 67 at either service.
Here's a 64 from a forum member who was kind enuf to pass it on to me:
Edited to add, this coin has wonderful luster not really captured in the image. The OP saw this coin last year in O town and loved it, as do I. Guess I should, I paid close to 65 money for it!!

'Morning folks. Enjoyed looking at the beautiful coins posted since I last checked this thread. Here is a dollar I recently purchased from Gene Bruder:
sorry about the different sized pics. the obv has nice blue and gold iridescence when tilted under the light.
<< <i>Mercdimeguy - that 69-s has got some nice crust to it. >>
Yeh, I just sent to CAC and it got a bean...when I saw the coin, the combination of crust and cartwheel luster coming through underneath was really cool in had and was a no brainer for originality. The coins is quite nice for a 62
ebaytrader's 60-O dollar is remarkably mark free for that issue. Love that 1837dime from jhdfla, I'm sure the pix don't do it justice.
I re-shot the reverse on my 1842 dollar and adjusted the color balance for both sides after it was pointed out to me that my images had a greenish tint. I think these are more true to life:
Nice photos, Boosibri. That is a heck of a nice quarter. Fun fact: 1859 was the first year for a smaller sized date, according to Briggs. jhdfla-- I agree with you on the no stars dimes and half dimes. A no stars quarter would have been something to see. thanks for your comments Vern. My photo editing program has very touchy color balance and somewhere along the way I sneezed or twitched and everything picked up a mild green shift. I'm glad a forum member pointed it out to me.

Ms70 that half dime is wonderful.
fastfreddie that 57-s is perfect. Great pics too.
Welcome UMCane! Love that 1840 half dime MS70. I have yet to fill that 42-o small date hole.
Hey John, speaking of 1878's here's my p53. It is very prooflike on both sides with great color.

That 70-s half makes me think one day we might see a quarter with the same date/mm.
Mercdimeguy - that 69-s has got some nice crust to it.
Yosclimber-that 41-o HD has some sweet clashing as you note.
Doug-that 40-o quarter looks like a very nice original, I like it a lot.
Here a so-so look for a common die pair on a scarcer date....p35 with a nice staple scratch across the shield...
ebaytr - nice dollar, thanks for posting.
