Would this 1793 1/2 cent certify? And what grade?
I've been looking for a 1793 1/2 cent in a low grade - a coin that would slab. Take a look at the coin below and let me know what you think (pretty subjective question only given a picture, huh). Your thoughts please........

Fair 2 maybe.
Have you pulled the trigger on it yet?

Too bad about the reverse. I'm afraid ANACS would NET grade it. Still.....a nice piece.

Any hint of a date and device detail on the OBVERSE awards this one AG'ish status in detail.
The flat reverse (is there any detail at all? It looks like there may be a hint here or there) and the slight pit preclude PCGS and probably NGC from holdering it (unless it is from a famous Pedigree, of course. . .).
if its for sale then the buyers of these early coppers generally know what they,re looking at
and may even prefer it unslabbed.
the grades offered here are mostl likely pretty accurate. i,d say you just got a coin graded for free.
not bad for just asking huh.

As one option, however, you could get NCS to holder it as genuine, without assigning a grade.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
I don't know if PCGS would body bag it because of the little attempted puncture on the reverse. I don't think NGC would, and I know that ANACS wouldn't. I'd say that mark is certainly not a problem in this grade.

USAF veteran, 1986-1996 :: support our troops - the American way.
The picture to the right is obverse of C-3 and the one below it is the obverse of C-1.
The cheekbone relief on the subject coin seems higher and positioned closer to the eye. Liberties fecial expression somehow seems "happier, bubblier, and more jovial" than that seen on C-1. Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of a GMM copy for comparison.
Condor, looks alot more like C-1 to me........
