The primary difference between GS and Cleveland is depth and experience. The talent level of GS extends far beyond its four All Stars. Iggy, Livingston, Pachulia, Magee, Young and West are veterans who play very well within defined rolls to support the All Stars. The younger players on the roster also fit in well, bring energy to the game and play within the system.
Cleveland has the best player in the game and others who cannot match the depth and talent of GS.
When GS is playing team basketball on offense and defense and mistake or lapse by an opposing team can result in GS going on a run.
I am not sure how to size up Game 3 yet. I suspect that Cleveland will come out fast and furious in an attempt to get a lead and keep it. GS may or may not be complacent. If GS is locked in and motivated Game 3 should be pretty good. If GS wins game 3 I would think they would be complacent in #4, thinking they would like to win the title at home in #5.
If Cleveland wins game 3 then #4 will be a dog fight and likely be a nail biter.

Honestly that narrative is the most exaggerated in these playoffs. Lebron,Tristan Thompson,Kevin Love & JR Smith are four of the 5 starters that started for the 2016 Cavs team that came back from 3-1 in the Finals. Those 4 also started in the 2017 Finals as well. They obviously never found someone who can replace what Kyrie was capable of doing on a nightly basis but there is no way that this team would have made the NBA finals solely on Lebron's contributions.
Their starting lineup & bench doesn't have the accolades & depth that GS has but they're far from this group of bums everyone makes them out to be.

Round one they were missing both Hill & Thompson for most of the series, down two starters would hurt any team and it ended up going 7. Round two they swept the #1 seed. Round three only lasted as long as it did because Boston hit their shots at home for the first 3 games in Boston.
As for the underdogs part that has more to do with GS having 4/5ths of an All Star team starting for them than it does Lebron's lack of help. Whichever team that came out of the East was going to be heavy underdogs no matter what whether it was the Cavs,Celtics or Raptors.
I just think this topic is way overblown by ESPN & Lebron fans, thats all. He's had stacked teams for years in a conference where he's had no real competition. The one year where his starting lineup has just two All Stars instead of three its the end of the world and he has no help.

The series isn't over and everyone is talking about Lebron being the MVP from a losing team. He's good but he isn't the MVP in my book. GS plays more team ball than Lebron ever thought about.

That's some pretty good analysis.
There is no doubt that the Cavs will come out firing on all cylinders. The big question is can they sustain it?
The Cavs have used a lot of gas in these first two games, whereby the Warriors have paced themselves nicely.
You could see that James was hissed off about it, but coach Lue was smart in pulling James out of game 2 with still over 4 minutes to play. That will definitely help James' energy level for game 3.
The problem for the Cavs is that game 1 was a wake-up call for the Warriors as they almost lost that game. So the Warriors could very well come out firing on all cylinders also....and just take this game away from the Cavs early. The first quarter will be most interesting.

I didn't Google it, but that would be extremely rare, perhaps it's never happened in a blow-out series. If the series goes say Warriors 4-3, and game 7 is close, there would be a slim chance of that happening for James. Any games won less than that for the Cavs, and James has no chance whatsoever at series MVP.

Mark, if Lebron and four plumbers played a game and shot 57% from the field they would win. on the other hand, if Lebron and four all-stars shoot 41% they will probably lose. I went back and forth with eric earlier in the thread about the numbers but they really tell the story here. Golden State is a very, very good Team when they shoot what is about average in the NBA at 45%-47%, when they hit everything in sight and Curry gets some confidence they are untouchable.
the Cavs don't really have to play like supermen to win but players like Love, Smith, Green and Korver need to shoot better. the Cavs Achilles heel now is what it has been all season, they tend to be slow getting back and can be beaten in transition. that means, to me at least, that when they shoot around 35-40% like they did for most of Game 2 that there will be easy buckets for the Warriors. that's how McGhee scored.
the Cavs defense wasn't bad in Game 2, the shooting sank them because they had steals where they came away with nothing and their slowness afoot doesn't help them in transition heading on offense. I won't say the Cavs have choked so far but I will say that the Warriors have risen to the challenge and played better.

@keets In your own convoluted way you're making my point. Cleveland with the plumbers have been in both games, they should have won game one and game two it was only ten point game after three but GS did their 3rd quarter thing in the 4th.
You can read into your numbers all you want but how they shoot in the first half means nothing later when the game is on the line. Game one,Cleveland let them off the hook at the end of OT and GS took advantage of it. I've been watching teams breathe new life into the Patriots in games for years and good to great teams like GS & NE take advantage of it. I wonder what their shooting percentage was in that OT when both teams had an equal shot to win then GS outclassed them in what seemed like seconds. I wonder what the shooting percentage was in that 4th in game two when they did it again?
Yes they are beatable but they also have the ability to turn the game into a blowout in the blink of an eye. I don't know if its just some people here underestimating them or maybe they just haven't actually watched many GS games to know that there will come a stretch where those 4 All Stars take over the game and put you away. You kept pointing to their 3rd quarter play because you read an article on ESPN one day then brought that narrative here but when they do their thing its game over. It only happens most of the time in the 3rd because their head coach reminds them at halftime that they have 4 All Stars and to cut the crap & take over already which they usually do. When GS gets going it doesn't matter if its the #1 seed Houston Rockets or the Cleveland Plumbers (thanks Mark ) there isn't much any team can do to stop it.

That is ESPN force-feeding the Lebron should be FINALS MVP/SEASON MVP/GOAT/BESTEST OF THE BESTIEST OF ALL TIME narrative on everyone. Curry has been spectacular in the two games with his 29-9-6 & 33-8-7 statistical performances and he led his team to two wins yet ESPN is trying to c(L)ock-block him from winning his first Finals MVP so Lebron can add a hollow award to his resume.
eric, in the first half of Game 2 the Warriors were shooting OVER 60%.
you falling into what you did earlier, looking for an argument with me when we agree. I'm not trying to make any point past the one simple thing: Golden State was lights out in Game 2 and that is hard to sustain. discussing things with Sanction he was pretty much spot on with his assessment, the margin of victory for the winner would be greater and one of the Teams would score and shoot well. I assured him that the prospect of that being the Cavs was low.
BTW, I bring up the 3rd quarter stat because I have actually followed the NBA and watched the Warriors do it. another thing I have watched through the season is Cleveland coming out of the half stone cold. neither of those things happened in that game. the Cavs seemed tired and slower than usual in the 4th quarter.
and again, eric, you always seem to be looking for an argument, that isn't why I come here unless it's with Dimeman.

Did anyone else see the video of how the cavs were acting on the bench before OT, especially Lebron? It's disappointing to see the lack of leadership from him. He just sat there defeated, like they didn't have 5 additional minutes to play. Also, it looks like he didn't know they still had a timeout left.
Game two - Early in the 4th,Lebron hits a three making it 90-83 game, The Warriors then hit 9 of their next 11 shots that includes five threes turning a 7 point lead into a 21 point lead, benches subbed in, game over.
Game one - Early in OT its a two point GS lead, then Warriors hit 5 straight shots including three threes turning a two point game into an 11 point lead, benches cleared, game over.

Given that he was trying to call a timeout before the game ended, it's safe to say he knew they had one.
The Warriors have been pacing themselves nicely this series. This game will depend on what the Warriors do.
We all know that the Cavs are going to come out fired up and motivated, especially at home and being down 2-0. The Warriors of course know this as well.
The Warriors may change their strategy, and run right with the Cavs from the beginning of the game. If so, i think there is a chance they blow-out the Cavs in this game.
Even if the Warriors pace themselves, they are not going to allow the Cavs to get away from them with a large lead. Frankly, I don't see any way the Cavs can win this game.
Just a question of how many points the Warriors win by. From the body language and comments made by the Warriors players in the past few days, I think the Warriors now want to make a "statement" in this series, and win it 4-0.
cavs win tonight , if the special officiating crew has anything to say about it. They picked the extenders . Game one - Early in OT its a two point GS lead, then Warriors hit 5 straight shots including three threes turning a two point game into an 11 point lead, benches cleared, game over.
Once GS turns it on,good night.

Predictions for game 3?
I think it will be competitive and a nail biter.
You watch it will be like that naked gun movie where Leslie Nielson is the umpire and he has to help one team . Wait till you see an official leap up and defend the rim from a Curry 3 pointer
You need this guy

They should forget the games and just let Green & Thompson beat each other up for the title.

I swear sometimes CS will go thru a stretch where you wonder how they ever won a game!
Cleveland's defense has been great so far and their making Curry take even crazier shots than he usually takes.

where have i seen a 1st half road performance like that from the warriors before? wait, is the Houston series over yet?
Curry with a single bucket and they're only down by 6
is the switch gonna flip in the 2nd half or will they wait until G4?
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I've said this before......I love Draymond's game ......... but PLEASE SHUT UP!!!!! What are the chances he makes it thru the rest of the Finals without picking up 2 more T's and a suspension.........zilch, zero, nada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!
For a guy Mcgee's size he misses way to many easy shots.
